I don't fly, but I'll roll with anyone in LA as long as it's in a spirit of goodwill. I don't consider myself good enough yet to try to be a Gracie Family representative in a public fight lol

I'll leave that to the Gracies themselves ;)

Judo can be very effective, specially when you get to higher levels and get a grasp of your weight center, I can for example stand my ground against a guy that is 40 kg. heavier than me, of course it is true though that fighting a guy that is bigger and has the same skill level is not a fair fight
I don't doubt it. I never reached that point myself but I wasn't very focused on it and didn't practice hard like some. I remember a little guy that was very fast and serious about Judo and he kicked everyone's ass with his speed and technique.

yes, just 10 days ago and sadly with a former friend. Even tho I "won" the fight, I feel it like a big loss

I honestly think someone should do a GFY Boxing match or matches! People who do not like others in this industry take it out with gloves in florida for 2 minute rounds...If no ones knocked out after 5th round then its a draw but at least its fuckin great entertainment and it squashes beef

P.S. If you guys are scared to get hit or scared to get your face scarred or whatever the case is then go out and buy those big ass boxing gloves..Oversized gloves that dont hurt as bad...Or we can just get some of those sumo wrestling suits and go at it.

I agree with you on this one. I my self train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and just got my blue belt You do have a advantage with size. I am 275 and when i fight a brown belt id i cant get past there guard or submit them i do wear them down with my weight. But i have a black belt guy i go rounds with who is 160 pound guy and he submits me all the time. It all depends on a persons skills but size and weight does have its advantages.

Fighting is for suckas
and drunk people like me half the time
Im one of those kind that got beat up in high school all the time...then went and trained in a number of things
Heres my advice to the tough guys
1. When fighting outta high-school and on the street and in bars...expect to get arrested and charged, so make sure the opponent REALLY REALLY needs those scratches and possible shiner (thats about the damage most people inflict on a regular basis) for the two years you get on your third assualt you can be rest assured most people will call you a stand up guy. yeah...right.
2. People can and will kill each other in fights, happens all the time
3. If your gonna fight, for God's sakes shut your mouth and fight
4.Fight like the guy is trying to kill you.
5.dont start fights when you are alone...last thing you need is some BJJ guy pulling your arms and legs off in an alley and choking you out so no one can hear you scream in pain...and ...for you BJJ guys...dont think that everyone is gonna let it be one on one...street fighting is nasty...BJJ guys trying to do the one on one thing usually get all there friends dummied while thier busy conquesting...and then wake up bruised.
6. Never drop your weopon...whether it be hockey stick, keys , whatever...fuck that person up and fast.
7. Fuck honor.

So you see ...fighting is not very worthwhile unless it is for sport...then it can be fun...

One of the first things my old Sensei said was ( no, i am not grasshopper...) was when faced in a fight ...run...fight only if there IS NO OTHER OPTION...very wise words

Yes i have been in several, mostly before jr. high but i have also been in quite a few after, most of which stemmed from something going on with my best friend who loves to fight, but loves to fight multiple people most of all because he is a bad ass he always wants to run up on a group of guys and just talk shit when its just me and him but we have done pretty good so far my friend is a cage fighter, mma, nhb whatever you call it and he has a website that have clips of some of his fights
http://www.ultimatedefense.com/rob.htm check it out its pretty cool

only twice

1st time, i was 14.....it was stupid....i punched her, pushed her down, done deal. sucky, really.

2nd time: my live-in boyfriends sister called the house one day, made a smart ass comment to me, and i hung up on her. so, she dragged her fat ass & her 80 lb crackwhore of a friend over, broke in my house, i ran out the side door (i knew she always carried a gun, didnt wanna get fuckin shot)....

....then they skinny one came after me, grabbed me by my shirt, i turned around and grabbed the back of her neck and the way she was standing & the angle i grabbed her, flipped her a full 360 degrees and she landed on my lawn (that was the coolest shit to see....it was done by accident though lol)

then Miss Fat ass came after me, and that was struggle!! lol she was tryin to pull my hair & i slapped her hard enough that she stopped & took her crackwhore of a friend and drove away.

not sure who really won that.......wasnt a full blown fight. but still, a fight.

I do not do mma but i am rollin with people all the time that do and i am 6'5 300lbs give or take a few and i get my ass kicked by the people who know more than me but when i roll with the guys that are equal or a little better i always win because i am so much bigger and stronger, i can completely control the way the fight goes by controling the other person so easily, unfortunately i dont know submissions besides arm bar, knee bar, and a keylock so i am pretty much fucked if the person can keep me from choking them. I think that skill is most important but if skill is close enough then the size matters.

hey congrats! Getting your blue in BJJ isn't like getting it in TKD or something, it means something. About 18 months or more of hard work, usually. They don't just give them away. Those black belts are wicked dangerous, the only black belts I've ever rolled with are Rener and Ryron Gracie and I'm like a little girl to them. They can beat most people using nothing but their legs. You won't get past their open guard and they'll snap you up into a triangle so fast you can't even see it coming.

for the guy talking about running into a BJJ guy in an alley... well it can happen but most of the guys I train with are very nice guys and like me aren't looking for trouble. Some of them won't go out of their way to avoid it though.

at 6'5 and 300 lbs all you need to know is the knee on stomach position lol

who's going to argue with you once they feel that?

There's a saying BJJ, All things being equal, for every 25lbs of weight, it' s one belt up.

I'm not sure what sport he's talking about. I personally have never heard of any where the smaller guy usually wins except for horse-racing. If he's a BJJ 2nd degree black belt his entire belt lineage and the date and location he got his belt will be on the web.

You must have not studied BJJ very long, Aikido is shit, and doesn't hold a candle to it.

Alot of ppl quit BJJ due to it's nature of being a truly alive fighting style. Not many ppl like being tapped out, I know I didn't when I first started.

Knew he wasn't BJJ, he spelled JJ the jap way.

He did mention a long time ago, he did like 7 years worth of BJJ with Relson or somebody down in LV. If he did, he'd be listed somewhere on Don's page.

Oh well.

Thanks it took me 26 months to get it because of injuries but well worth it. You are so right when you speak of the little guys who are black belts they are danger as hell size does NOT MATTER there. Most people in my class are mellow and fight to learn not to hurt people. My only downfall when i get a choke put on me i dont tap. I have been put out over 20 times this year.

No, you are wrong, Judo does not emphasize the pin, it is actually more effective against more than one opponent than BJJ for example. This is a common misunderstanding, but in Judo if you train hard you can get the black belt in two years. The black belt in Judo is not nearly the same as the black belt in BJJ, it takes 6-8 years to get the black belt in BJJ, so that is the equaliant of a 2-3rd degree blackbelt in Judo, and belive me if you are 3rd degree black belt in Judo you do not study pins and throws anymore

In Judo you are actually just considered a beginner untill you get the blackbelt, when you get it it meens you can really start studying Judo

more like 10-15 years for a BJJ black belt unless you're pretty talented.

Judo is cool, there are some Judo guys making noise in NHB now.

I've gotten in many fights, mostly between the ages of 14 and 21 though (i'm 26 now). Since then i've gradually been calming down and growing up, but there have been some i either just couldn't avoid or couldn't control myself on since then.

Yeah, also depends on how often you train...
I did a month with Edson Carvalho's school in Salvador, Brazil, and most the guys there were taking the black belt in about 8 years, but then again they tose guys were training 5-6 days a week 3-5 hours a day. I even got to wrestle the state Vale Tudo champion (same as NHB), he thrashed me pretty easily :D

I have done some BJJ, maybe 8 months in total, and from what I can see it is an extremely effective method 1 on 1, probably more than Judo, but I find that Judo is more effective if you do get in a real life situation, since it gives you more options on your feet.

My plan is now to do some TKD or Muy-Thai then I should be eligable to do some NHB

I have been in tonnes of fights - not that I'm proud of it - but I bounced before this and when things happened - I had to put an end to them quickly. I'm not the type to sit and duke it out - I always preferred to get the guy in a lock and take him out quickly.
Last fight I was in was actually against a couple of bouncers in Waterloo. I went back to the bar 2 months later and the one bouncer was still in the hospital - oh well - he thought he was tough guy.

I have been in some fights, some bigger then the other. I used to do freefighting and kickboxing, so I had to fight in the ring a lot. And I used to be far more agressive then I am now. The last fight I have been in was about 6 months ago, dunno why it is. I prefer other people fighting my fights

BJJ doctrine say 90 percent of fights end on the ground (Fallacy, but great marketing), the other side of the coin is, 100 percent of fights start standing up.

That's why I do both Judo and Jits.

Actually, I've never been in a fight before. I don't need to, I hurt myself enough on accident.

I'm the biggest pussycat you'll ever meet, I only train so I can choke someone out if they try to horn in on our dates Roger

Hit me up when you get to LA, I'll give you a tour of the new casa!
