![]() Has anyone got a problem switching from Adobe Photoshop to Image Ready and then back again.
I slice it up in Image Ready and then when I try to bring back to photoshop. I get an error. Saying it can't read the format, not compatible with this version of photoshop. WHAT THE FUCK??? I did it earlier with no errors.

First of all, a few comments...Sounds like you need to adjust your "scratch disk" setting under File...Preferences. Your harddrive space could be lacking and if that is the case, your problem lies there.
Questions: What type of PC are you running? How much RAM? Is you version of Photoshop real and paid for? How much hard drive space to you have on your computer? Answer these questions and I know I can help you. For you guys laughing saying switch to Paintshop Pro, blow me. I have both and use a combination of Fireworks, Photoshop, Imageready and Paintshop Pro all of which I purchased. They are all good depending on what you want to do. I wonder why Photoshop has been around, what 11 years? Must be something there.

There's just something with Photoshop 7 that causes those errors, but the circumstances have to be JUST right.. I never figured out what the "ingredients" of the error were. |

I've had the same problem and lost the psd files for a full site!
Cause = when switching back and forth between PS and image ready. It seems only to occur if you are impatient and clicking stuff while it is still exporting the file to the other application. After a more patient approach to working like this, the error doesn't occur. But since, I have always saved a backup of my psd file before attempting to export it into image ready. Don't click anything while its busy, it won't go faster and it will only fuck up your work.

I work for AAA Adult Design, and just about all of our designers have had this problem at one time or another.
From what we've been able to gather, this problem has something to do with the Pattern Overlay layer style. This is the one thing we noticed that all affected PSDs had in common. It seems to happen a good percentage of the time when this layer style is used (though it only seems to happen when a document is created in Photoshop, then sliced and saved in ImageReady). Unfortunately, we haven't found a cure for this after it's happened (after both Photoshop and ImageReady tell you the file is an unknown format). The way I've found around it is this: if you have a layer that uses the Pattern Overlay style, duplicate it, set the opacity of the duplicated layer to 0, link it to the original layer, then merge the two, thus eliminating all styles for that layer. Then you can slice as normal in ImageReady. Since I've been doing this, I haven't had that problem once, so I'm pretty sure that's what causes it.
