I second pooterpatty. Ive had this same problem before once you have worked on Pattern Overlays and other effects (like animated gifs) and saved in ImageReady. I have a solution though, keep back up copies of your earlier work from PhotoShop. Once you have saved in ImageReady you will have to continue with it. So just leave ImageReady and the slicing for the last step.
