WOW! No way. That's amazing! I can't believe how good it looks now. I remember what it used to look like, and this doesn't look like the same bar/club at all!

It looks SO much better.
I can see the old owners walking in now, jaw dropping, and saying "why didn't WE think of this??" Is it the camera lens or does the bottom of the bar look bowed out? (Like maybe it needs a few more nails going down the length of it at mid-height?) |

Hmm it doesn't look like a bar at all to me...
Listen to a bar expert: The most important thing in a bar IS THE BAR. 1. Your bar is too short -- it needs to be spread out so people come in. If there's a guy at your little window there drinking, you won't get another guy that will want to come in and drink because he won't want to sit next to the other dude or be facing that column... It's like most things -- nobody wants to cram next to someone else because that's strange/awkward/uncomfortable, but if the place is already jammin full of people and music is going, people feel more comfortable being close to each other and this is when all the hookup action starts... This is why long narrow bars kinda like NYC style always work well, because they're always just full enough and not too empty... 2. You need wood barstools that have lots of places to put your feet -- this is just a comfort thing. If the stools have substance, so does the bar... 3. Your bar has serious problems. It doesn't have an overhang! A good way always comes toward you so you don't have to lean or hunch forward, strain yourself to get to your drink. If your elbow can't easily reach the bar without leaning forward -- I doubt anyone will feel comfortable sitting there. Besides if people are going to smoke -- now you got drinks, ashtrays, lighters, cigs, etc. so there needs to be some room for people to smoke and drink and feel like they have some space to chill out and relax -- that's why people go to bars in the first place -- to relax and meet new people (usually at the bar). So give people room for their legs and have the bar come out toward the person seated. 4. A good bar always has a nice footrest. Most cool bars have a nice metal or wood bar/pipe deal that runs near the floor along the length of the bar -- so you can rest your feet -- again for comfort -- other bars just have a step down there... Girls love to walk up to the bar, step up there, show some ass and cleavage and try to get free drinks by flirting with the bartender... 5. People are probably going to carve shit and put out or leave cigs burning on your bar -- so I think about how much time/energy you want to put into keeping that maintained... Also you should think about the edge of the bar -- people will ALWAYS spill drinks, even if they aren't that drunk -- so you'll need a little lip on the bar so people don't get drinks all over their clothes -- but you want their arms to be comfortable, so after the lip you should have a nice bevel or curve that is inviting to arms/hands... A nice curve on the edge will look really nice too because curves catch light really well... You may want to consider metal for the edge of the bar because it will take abuse over time if this place is popular. 6. You need lots of interesting shit to look at -- interesting pictures, just cool junk -- stuff from your personal life that makes you and the bar interesting... Lots of people just like to zone out when they drink and don't want to talk to do anything except just stare off into space -- and that's just doesn't work if you're staring at a mostly/blank wall... Get all your liquor bottles on a step system so you can clearly see all the bottles -- looking at all the cool bottles is always fun when you're drunk and stoned -- obviously a lot of attention is put into designing these bottles for drunk people to admire and look at... and this will help you sell the stuff... 7. Mirror... I don't remember if you had a mirror, but a mirror behind the bar is a good idea for a couple of reasons... a) your bartender can see what is going on even when he/she is making drinks or turned away from the bar... b) people at the bar can scan the room without turning around haha and c) just makes the place look nice... But you shouldn't do a huge mirror -- do a patterned mirror or something semi-reflective, or a long sliver of a mirror because nobody wants to be staring back at themselves while they drink -- you shouldn't really notice the mirror but it should be useful for above reasons... |

Hope I wasn't too harsh because it looks nice -- just functionally it needs some work if people are going to drink there on a regular basis... the colors and lighting look great... and it looks kinda classy... But remember that people that really enjoy drinking every day aren't really so into "classy" -- what they really want is comfort... a home away from home. You know like Cheers... hahaha... Norm is real and funny on that show because he's a stereotypical bar person... There are millions of "Norm's" all over the world... these guys come in every day and want to sit in the same place...
Maybe you don't have room, but at a bar without a pool table is kindof lacking even at really "classy" bars... if you have a pool table I can almost guarantee you will get a core group of people that always want to play while drinking -- almost every day or on certain day so it becomes routine... The pool table sells the bar and if it takes coins even more money, and to me it seems to usually be the core of the social activity for most bars -- it's an easy ice-breaker especially when people are playing doubles and looking for new teammates when there's only 1 table... I don't think the table is that important, except for the shape/look, because that will define the style of your place -- get some heavy sticks and plenty of chalk... and keep some sandpaper handy to keep the sticks from getting handjam... |

I have been in Guardamar last week, stayed in Hotel Eden Mar (or something like that). At the moment I´m in Benidorm (Alfaz del Pi really). Guardamar lacks any discos, although it´s a very nice town. As I have a car, I will visit Guardamar and your bar later this week or maybe next week. Are you open every day?
For the record, I´m also Dutch So I am going to keep you on your promise, free drinks...
