Quite frankly I'd be surprised to see many non US cars going for record prices this year on the resale market.

Now before you all start yelling that I'm a girl or I wouldn't say that, here's the logic --

I was at the Barrett Jackson auction this January here, and it basically is a price and trend setter for the entire year in the high end exotic market.

Cars like the 57 Jag, a 72 Pininfarina, and many other Euros that were supposed to go for a lot of money (not all old by any means either) didn't even make reserve in most cases, on some rather disinterested bidding.

On the other hand, cars like the 69 Superboss Lawman Mustang fetched as much or more than they were expected to garner, and the bidding was brisk.

Keep in mind that Barrett Jackson is not a local or regional auction, between the hundred thousand odd people that come out, and the ton of people who do telephone bidding (like the gentleman from Japan who bought a 60s era Vette for an unbelievable amount for that car) the auction represents a wide variety of nationalities in both the buyer and seller category.

As a matter of fact, anyone that loves cars should plan to come out in January next year -- http://barrett-jackson.com

Your logic is accurate Kimmy..the market on exotics has gone the way of the stockmarket. Even the GT2..Porsche has 41 of them sitting now in US dealers. And most of them are just sitting. The rumor is they will be producing 1500 of the carrera GT's..and the market for them at around 400k each is almost non existant right now.If a person is in the market for an exotic..there has never been a better time to buy.

Depending where you live you can find good deals in sport cars. Personally I'm not gonna spend a fortune at the moment to get a car. I prefer saving them for future business plans. I don't care if there are people basing their thoughts depending on what car others drive.

I don't like people that act big because they have a nice car. Actually I hate them. You buy a car because you like it, you can afford it and it will give you some nice moments. If you are gonna buy it seeking to boost your self estime do not buy it at all; you'll still be a loser.

Scottsdale is definitely a car town, at any given moment you can buy most anything you'd like from the floor of a couple of the exotics dealers, often even before they are available through normal channels - for instance Lotus of Scottsdale had Mini Coopers months before we got a Mini dealership and about a week before they were even released to dealers, some kind of contacts they have with a guy in the company. They always have a stable full of ponies so to speak, between new and vintage Lambos, Lotus, Porsche (they had a GT2 last year that had been specially built in the factory for an exec in the states, the price on it was unreal)

Motorsports of Scottsdale is another place that always has the goods as well -- last time I was in there they had 3 of the Z8 BMW's on the floor, a great selection of Ferraris and they are a Panoz dealer...

Barrett Jacksons physical showroom is also located here in town and if you're ever looking for unbelievably well kept and restored vintage cars, there's no better place to get a selection.

Those fuckers never let me park my Porsche beside the dance floor.

And my porsche jacket, keychain and baseball cap don't seem to work, so I end up having to tell all the women I meet about my car.

Like "Hey baby, I've got a Porsche. No, really, it's right outside. Augh! Please no more pepper spray!"

What's your secret?
