Quite frankly I'd be surprised to see many non US cars going for record prices this year on the resale market.

Now before you all start yelling that I'm a girl or I wouldn't say that, here's the logic --

I was at the Barrett Jackson auction this January here, and it basically is a price and trend setter for the entire year in the high end exotic market.

Cars like the 57 Jag, a 72 Pininfarina, and many other Euros that were supposed to go for a lot of money (not all old by any means either) didn't even make reserve in most cases, on some rather disinterested bidding.

On the other hand, cars like the 69 Superboss Lawman Mustang fetched as much or more than they were expected to garner, and the bidding was brisk.

Keep in mind that Barrett Jackson is not a local or regional auction, between the hundred thousand odd people that come out, and the ton of people who do telephone bidding (like the gentleman from Japan who bought a 60s era Vette for an unbelievable amount for that car) the auction represents a wide variety of nationalities in both the buyer and seller category.

As a matter of fact, anyone that loves cars should plan to come out in January next year -- http://barrett-jackson.com
