What to do with crab meat?

My daughters birthday today and she wants a seafood dinner.

What could I do with crab meat aside from stuffing mushrooms? What kind of sauce do you put on it?

I've only made it once and stuffed portabella mushrooms but she doesn't really like mushrooms. If I stuff salmon with it, I just filet it like chicken and then cook it how?

I think that's what I will have to go with. Bearnaise sauce or is there some sort of fish sauce?

I will find a recipe for it. Everything else I find seems like it will take away the taste of the crab.

Happy birthday little S.

Creamy sauce goes with crab I guess. Here are some recipie ideas - Crab Recipes : Food Network

I don't eat salmon but I would cook it in the guest of honor's favorite way. I prefer grilled or smoked fish myself. If you like rarer salmon you could cut a pocket into the filet for your stuffing. Then broil it to the desired doneness.

I would leave the stuffing part and fry the salmon as sliced and maybe fry the crab meat too. I haven't never cooked crabs (not that much around here), but the point was cooking and serving those "separately".

The fried crab meat (or salmon too) could also be dipped onto some sauce, like they do in Asia. AKA having plate with salmon and crab meat and some extra and some dips to dip the meat into.

No sauce, no mushrooms. Just a cooked crab meat in its own shell. Just like you do it with lobsters.

Microwave Roux Recipe - Food.com
wow, making roux without bacon grease, several of my dead family just rolled over in their graves!

i take it you've made/tried this so, i'll bookmark it because, yes, my homemade roux is easy to burn and takes a while, this method would shave a lot or time off the entire gumbo recipe time though.

otoh, i usually nibble the bacon while stirring the roux! makes the time go by faster

Not that exact recipe but you can make a good roux in the microwave. You can also just brown the flour in the oven and omit any fat but screw that. I cook just the flour and oil part in the microwave then add it to a big pot and continue like normal.

Dinner was DELICIOUS!!!!!

Crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms, shrimp scampi and asparagus topped with Bearnaise sauce.

Desert chocolate layer cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate covered strawberries and pineapples.

We had a feast then took a ride in her new car after I successfully installed her license plates by myself! Was a good birthday for a sweet 17 year old.

Thank you dyno for the crab cake suggestion! Was trying to avoid it, but was so good.

Yummy!

The shrimp was actually in scampi sauce - I do like my shrimp a little more cooked, like...grilled (crispy on the outside) and in COCKtail sauce - but this was pretty good.

I haven't peed yet, but I'm sure it will be stinky lol. Why are you so gross???

I like asparagus but I don't eat it often because of the stinky pee thing. I ate a whole bunch of it once. Ugh I had to hold my nose to piss.

I like the whole thing, but the floret part is my fav, especially if it's a little crunchy.

I bake it for like 20/25 minutes with olive oil, minced garlic and sea salt. Mmmm! Don't need to put butter or anything on it. Delicious just like that.

I went with this one because it really only used the crab meat. She doesn't like when I season her seafood too much and drown out the fishy taste, so I tried to keep it simple
