Yeah, if I was younger I would consider a Ducati for sure . . . . after a Buell.

Yes, I should have included that part! Although my duc was pretty damn comfortable. not bagger comfortable though. but ducs and hogs go well together in the lineup.

Personally, I'd rather go electric and leave the chest-pounding to the machos. But if I was to buy a bike (I still like them), the bike I'd ask for would be fun, comfortable, sexy, and not unnecessarily loud. However, if the Harley Electric Bikes were available at that that time, I would definitely consider buying one. Really really. Harley's are the coolest of the cool bikes, and to me an electric Harley would be the ultimate cool bike.

I don't have a bike in this race, but I did hear that the new Electro-Hog comes with a pack of these.

What are the benefits of hardtail over softtail?
I did a quick read and found only 2:
better "slightly" cornering
cheaper (less part etc, cheaper to maintain etc)

Softtail is less bumpy, which overcomes those 2?
What is the point of hardtail except of being "tough and coool" ?

There are no advantages; a hardtail is a frame with no suspension which is how they were made in the day.

A car wouldn't hear the bike until it's too late.

I rode for years and frankly I never had many problems. Some drivers don't see you, but that happens with a car too. Don't see the need to be loud.

Perhaps I think differently because I live in a quiet neighborhood and I don't need a fucking Harley waking up my kids.

I agree, there's a time and a place to get on the pipes and it's not in the neighborhood. A bike can have aftermarket/loud pipes but it's very easy to pipe down. You won't see tards like that blippin the pipes next to a cop.

Thanks, I had to get one older than 2008 when Harley totally fucked up the wide glide.

The "which bags" has been the problem, the style I would like won't fit because of the shocks

I've bought a couple sets of throw-overs but hated them before even getting them completely mounted, they sit in the hall closet.

Lately been thinking about going single-sided, I just need a little space for a jacket this isn't exactly a touring bike.

I give a little rap on my bike and while my pipes aren't that loud, I can get attention from those that I need to

Don't feel old, When you see most 1% clubs, you will see some flying couches out there every time. They usually have beer in the trunk.

That last picture, those look better, anything short of putting on hard bags. The new hard bags they have at Harley are pretty nice.

Until you have ridden with loud pipes, you will never understand I guess.

Love going thru the tunnels going to Malibu with several friends, then giving a good rip on the throttle , it's deafening.

I never found any h-d bags i liked either, especially the ones for dynas, they seem to think the shocks need a wide berth. I went with detachable boss bags, the profile works perfect with the bobtail fender and the insides are much more practical than the inside of any h-d bag I've looked in. you can get a case of beer and a bag of chips into a pair of boss bags!

I hate it when people do that. Cars too with their fucking fart cans.

I'm a grown up. I like to rock out in the car just like everyone else. But not when I'm rolling past houses.

Nice Monster! I like your clutch cover. I have almost the same one. 2013 Monster 796ABS / Termi exhaust / Tail Chop / Intergrated turn signals into my tail light.

Here is my bike and how loud my pipes are. Before and After I upgraded them.

If you ever find yourself anywhere near Parkfield this place throws out the best burger I ever tasted, worth the trip

It's about 75 miles from my home and I go there at least once a month, hell I was there last weekend!

Newcombs looks pretty close to me, I'll have to check it out

Going next week to route 66 in Canyon Country, they have a bike night every Wednesday .

Rock Store on Mulholland is cool but Brunch at the sagebrush is still my favorite.

nothing like termis on a monster, nothing. If you have a dry clutch on your 796 you can slam that clutch cover on yours, that I had on mine, and get the classic clickity clank ducati sound along with that termi growl.

nice, newcomb's is at the top of angel's crest, highway 2, one of the best rides around! no shit. stop at newcombs for a beer and breakfast, check out all the scoots, then keep going over the top to wrightwood for beers and checking out more scoots, then you can either come back over the hill or just keep going out the highway 15 and grab highway all the way home. killer day run either way.

Yeah I've been on the 2 before, but that was 25 years ago, and in a car

Getting to La Canada's about a 180 mile jog for me so the 2 to the Mojave and back home in a day is a bit of a stretch, I do get down to SFV from time to time when I feel like lunch at the Yoshinoya in Reseda (beef bowl!) or Cafe Versailles in Encino (cuban food!)
I have an old drinking buddy in Tehachapi I go see from time to time, that would make a good day ride, hit the 2 have lunch at Newcomb's then go on through the desert and get hammered at my buddy's and back home the next day.

But not this time of year. maybe in the fall.

When you make it here, let me know, I'm down the street in Van Nuys.
Yoshinoya is all over the Valley

I haven't done the 2 yet, but the 23 is a nice ride, Grimes canyon!

I am very well acquainted with the 23, I take it from Moorpark to Fillmore every couple months.
When you get to Fillmore keep going across the 126 for 2 blocks there's a little taco shop I go to all the time called El Taco Llama, there's a few of them there in the valley including the one I always went to when I lived in Encino 20+ years ago, it's at the corner of Balboa and Sherman Raceway next to the 7-11, down-home south of the border fast food, you used to be able to get cow brain tacos there before mad cow disease came along You can still get the cow tongue tacos

(why do all my bike rides end in food?)

One of these days I'll head down your way and meet you at Cafe Versailles for some Cuban food.

Yeah, most bike rides we go one end in food too, I've eaten at a taco llama before, was pretty good, but for good mexican, we head to Camarillo for El Tecalote. They've been open for at least 50 years that I know of. Right next to my elementary school I went to!
That and taking the back way on the 118 makes for a fun little ride.

Cuban food? You're on!

I just had lunch at Beeps, right there on Sherman and Balboa so I know the area well. I live on Sherman in Van Nuys

El Tecalote eh? mapped and it seems I've ridden right past it, now that I know I'll give it a try.

I lived for a brief time right out of high school in Port Hueneme so every once in a while I'll cruise around in the area, next time I'll know where to have lunch.

Do you know of a pizza place in your area that makes a pizza with a marinated, cooked beef on it?
It was so freaking good I'd like to find it if it's still around, I think it was north of Sherman and east of Balboa but I can't remember any more than that.

I lived in South Florida for 20 years, I even helped some friend(s) run a Cuban cafeteria in North Miami for a couple of years.
Cuban food was a staple at least a couple times a week for many, many years, I miss it a lot.
Versailles is pretty good, http://www.versaillescuban.com/

I love the Lechon Asado, Ropa Vieja, Masita De Puerco, Arroz Con Pollo (yes that's chicken and rice), Pan Con Bistec, Vaca Frita (fried cow ) crap I could list dishes for days

Or even just a Cuban Sandwich with some papa fritas, it's all good.

Here's my advice:
If they say they have Rabo, eat it.
Don't ask what it is... just eat it, you can thank me later

Tell you what... if I get down there in the near future and hook up with Vendzilla for a cuban lunch why don't you join us and I'll edumacate you both on Cuban Cuisine?

They have good Mexican food there, also in Camarillo is Dorothy's chuck wagon for breakfast, they have Jalapeno bacon and Gator sausage.

As far as pizza, I don't know of a place that has that, but I will look at let you know. It sounds good. Restaurants here open and close so much, only the chain stores and the Mexican joints stay open.

Ever eat at Dr Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ? They have a brisket that's amazing. It's right up the street, Sepulveda and Roscoe.

I like either, so I'm sure I will love the place.

Ok, I'm just taking a break, the differential went out in my pick up, it threw a bearing thru the back plate. Cleaning up the plate and welding up the hole so tomorrow a friend and I can replaces the pumpkin with a complete kit. $600 in parts. Good the have the owner of a garage as a friend to get parts and a long time friend as a mechanic to help you with things like this. He's also a Harley Mechanic, he's doing my cam kit on my bike soon, can't wait for that!

papa fritas in american = french fries french fries are very big in Cuban cooking.
papitas = the little canned shoe string potatoes you find on the Pan Con Bistec (or sometimes just means potato chips)

I'd be afraid of you doing worse, LOL

Yeah, anytime.

I'm always up to get together for some eats.

I just got back from a ride across the Valley to Barger Harley. I ordered new shifter knobs. These have flames on them!! LOL That and they are a lot more comfortable to use.
