LAPD Is A Joke!!!!!!

I heard someone shooting a gun by my house I called the cops right away. An hour went by and the cops never came!. They called me an hour later saying the cops are here come outside I go outside and they aren't there! They went to the wrong location more than 10 miles away. The 911 dispatcher gave the police the wrong information. So I call 911 again and they said this is for emergency calls only and for non emergency calls call your local police department and they hung up. Shots fired is a non emergency WTF lol.

I get pulled over for talking on my cellphone and get followed by cops for nothing and some dude runs around my neighborhood shooting people and it's not a priority?

If someone is running around your neighborhood shooting a gun, it's not a good idea to go outside.

Are you in BH?

Yep, shots fired is non-emergency.
Person shot is an emergency.
If it's not an emergency then they get there when they can.
During peek hours, if no one and nothing was shot then they may not respond.

True.

I get where you're coming from, but calling 911 to say I need to give you the right address is the non-emergency they're obviously referring to and I hope everyone can see that.

not to mention 911 knows your address, it's the law that your phone # be directly tied to your addy for 911. and on the 911 calls i've had, that addy is double-confirmed in the convo.

Yeah, they show up for all 911 hangup calls too. They know the address that's linked in the computer. I guess for him, they go 10 miles in the other direction though, lol. Should look into that one before you actually need them for real.

They don't know your address if you are on a cellular phone, which most people are now, and is causing major problems with the 911 system.

I lived in Venice and the nights I didn't hear shots were unusual.

Somebody set our fence on fire with a mattress and FD didn't show up for two hours, while I kept hosing it down but it kept flaming back up. You would be shocked how well a flame retardant mattress burns.

The VC13 were more polite and friendly to us than the cops, who regularly stopped us thinking we were in the hood to buy crack.

they certainly do know your address, e911 has triangulation as well as full access to your phone's gps.

+ the address linked to your sim card.

I called 911 in cali from a smartphone I had setup in another state, they still knew exactly where I was during the call and the 911 call was routed to local 911 where I was, not the other state.

It's not like the old movies, where the cops had to keep you on the line for a minute or more to trace your call. The 911 system was designed to identify immediately who the caller is and where they are calling from so that the 911 call is automatically routed to the closest jurisdiction:

Quote:
First, the public telephone system already identifies the telephone number for every call placed on the network in order to properly bill the subscriber each month. When a 911 call is placed, this phone number is identified through what is known as Automatic Number Identification (ANI) and passed to the 911 network.

Second, telephone companies maintains a subscriber database for every assigned telephone number, the subscriber's name, physical address for a wired phone account, and billing information. The address is therefore identified through what is known as Automatic Location Identification (ALI).

Third, the telcom provider and the pubilc safety agencies collaborate to create an E911 Master Street Address Guide (MSAG), a database that cross-references every assigned telephone number, subscriber's address and the block number ranges for every street, in every jurisdiction served by the telephone company. This allows the phone company's computer to match the caller's location with its public safety jurisdiction, and then route the call to the appropriate communications center.

Note that "pubilc safety jurisdiction" may be different than the caller's political jurisdiction. That is, the caller may live in Oaktown, but their 911 calls are handled by Maple City, or Elm County. The MSAG is pre-programmed to take 911 calls and route them to the proper Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) that will then dispatch emergency personnel in response to a 911 call.
Need more to ponder...

I was told by a policeman friend of mine years ago that if you ever find yourself in REAL trouble just say 'Officer Requires Assistance' and put the phone down - You get priority over everything else...

That's the UK - I assume it's pretty much the same in the US.....

There's one problem with this, when they show up and you are standing there and there is no cop, they will think you killed a cop, hid the body, and they will beat your ass down or shoot you.

It all (generally) depends on your location. If you are in a higher crime area, they don't give a shit about anything non violent, if you live in an area where a car break in is a big deal, they usually get there in minutes.

Sad but true

Just remembered where my buddies alarm went off in his house when his brother couldn't remember the code.
He lives 2 blocks from a LAPD station and had to pay the Police for showing up. They never showed up! My Buddies brother waited for 3 hours

No one is getting fined for a one time false alarm; but anyone with an alarm system knows (or should know) that if their alarm goes off on multiple occasions they are going to get charged for false alarms.

Funny that Vendzilla thinks the cops come from the station, like they are all sitting around waiting for something to do. Your friend's proximity to the station is totally irrelevant. A fire department it matters, not the cops.

Around here it's the proximity to a donut/coffee shop.

Funny that Vendzilla thinks the cops come from the station, like they are all sitting around waiting for something to do. Your friend's proximity to the station is totally irrelevant. A fire department it matters, not the cops.
Where I live we pay a yearly fee to the police department to have our alarm. I think it's kind of silly - I'm paying for the alarm and I have to pay the local police for it why? - but we have a low crime rate, our PD is broke, so the $15 fee isn't killing me.

The fines for false alarms are a little stiffer than that around here.

Marijuana grows right behind the local police station here, and you call yours a joke?
