I am missing the part where these people are forced to work there.

If you don't like the conditions at your work, find a better job. If you can't find a better job, find a different job that you will enjoy more or be better appreciated at. If you can't find any alternative job, be thankful that you have a job and stfu, because there are many families that don't even have an income at Christmas let alone a "bonus".

If I had a large number of employees I would end up losing it and calling them horrible names. Right now I have 12 contract employees and I am at my boiling point. No I did not give any of them and gay ass Christmas bonuses. I bought my mother and kid presents since they are the only two people I care about and everyone else can GFY.

Actually you and signupdammit got the point of the thread its news...inside news combined with the rest of the stuff that happened with Manwin in the last year it does paint an interesting picture of the status of the company.

Most Manwin properties are money sinks, save for the tube sites which they are distancing the other properties from.

Its also interesting that they change the corp HQ every year or so...trying to stay one step ahead of the local authorities I expect.

Manwin hasnt purchased anything of note in quite some time either....

This is what happens when you:

1) hire poorly
2) try to do a .com thing, spoiling employees (it's never appreciated by more than a small few - mostly, it becomes expected)
3) do not tie bonuses to individual performance and make them earned, rather than a gift

A simple fact about paying people is that paying the wrong people more NEVER gets the correct behavior from a bad employee. It does... but maybe for about 2 weeks until they either start bitching about the same thing and wanting more again, or find a new perceived injustice or complaint.

These people need to be canned immediately, as you can see, they are a cancer to a business and ultimately infect almost everyone, destroying the entire team.

If it is a legitimate beef and they can?t afford to lose him they will step up and pay him more. It?s as simple as that. If you want a bonus then stand out. Do things above and beyond your job scope.

Now, I am sure that there are some people at MindGeek who do have legitimate complaints about work. It is a big company and these things happen. Based on the law of averages I am sure some assholes work there too. I hope this employee finds a way to step up his game, and prove to his employers that he deserves a bonus. Speaking for myself and my company, those are the only guys on my team who ever get one.

Everything you myopic little shit.

The only people whose businesses were destroyed were those without the intelligence to alter what they were doing to adapt to the ever changing climate of online marketing.

Manwin entered the business with a plan that worked, argue forever about copyright violations, etc. really have never looked that close at it, but I am guessing with DMCA they exploited a loophole, executed their plan, made a fortune, and became a giant.

IF....and take notice I said IF, anything was illegal one of two things will happen, they will get called to task by authorities, or they will get away with it.

Has nobody looked at the economics of this?

Don't they have 1200 employees? lets say you bonus everyone with an additional two weeks pay and the average person makes 45k/year. (i am just guessing out of thin air)

That's over 2 million dollars. That's boils down to an additional payroll cycle, and everyone should know, that payroll is often the biggest expense for most companies.

Not too mention, statistically, the highest turnover times for a company are right after the employees receive their bonuses.

This guy wrote to MikeSouth thinking he's a Snowden/Manning, but this is not "whistleblower" material (Edit: while I reply, Mike compares this to Watergate!?). Would any real newspaper publish a letter like this in the headlines, even if it was an Apple or Google employee? No!

Even all is true, what exceptional wrongdoing or huge fail it was disclosed here?
So a company grow from 12 to 1200 people in a few years, hired hundreds of people quickly. Then figured that's too many, so fire a few and limit bonuses. We heard (or experienced) this story thousands times.

A so normal story, that the readers focused on the poor writing style, rather than its "contents". A relevant story would bomb even if wrote in cat meme language, and no one would even point out it waz writ porly.
