Actually that was 100 in a year, not a month. I average about 2 new affiliates a week when I don't advertise for them (here on GFY and other webmaster boards). When I DO advertise it's about 5 a week. Just got a new affiliate overnight, as a matter of fact. Here's some love for them:

Getting new affiliates isn't really the issue. It's getting affiliates that will actually send traffic consistently. Today, affs are so squeezed that they signup for a Program, give it a shot for a week or less, sometimes a little more, and if sales don't flow in right away they move on to another Program. I can understand this, of course, but sometimes it takes a while for sales to flow and adjustments need to be made. The days of throwing up a video on a Blog and getting mad sales are over.

Quality of affiliates is key, and the ability to interact and work with them is even more important. Many affiliates simply sign up for a zillion Programs and throw shit at a wall to see what sticks. Instead, new affs should contact the Program they just signed up for and work with that Program to maximize sales. Build a relationship, etc.

This year I am taking the initiative and contacting affiliates myself via weekly emails/updates. But another factor is what kind of Program you are running. We are CCBill and many 'whales' won't touch anything that's not PPS (or anything that's CCBill) so this is limiting. Then again, those who use NATS and do the PPS game have their own problems, too. LOL

This isnt about Marc De, this is about how the money for honest webmasters was once flowing and gushing and now it's barely a trickle. And we're supposed to praise the people who did it to us because the big guys here got a fat paycheck from these guys who did it to the industry. And if we don't like it we're "whining".

Who says you have to praise anyone? I am a realist not a Manasskisser. I do business with them because that is where the traffic is. They could care less if I do or don't send content and I could care less if tomorrow the traffic has gone elsewhere because at the end of the day it is just business.

There are still programs making bank and there are still programs that will explode. Businesses will thrive as others go extinct. What else is the big deal?

That mythical golden age that people keep yapping about? Well some people made "easy" money but many more could never make more than enough for a six pack of beer. And guess what? They complained that TGPs were giving away too much for free. Sound familiar?

TGPs were a 10-20 second clip where no one gave away the cumshot. Tubes are giving away entire 25 minute scenes with cumshot at the end.

People who complain about how the good old times passed by have to realize that past profit margins were simply unsustainable because they were too good to be true. A 'reversion to the mean' happens in about every industry, especially those with low barriers to entry.

I'd say profit margins in adult have normalized tremendously over the last 10 years but in reality they're still pretty good when compared to brick and mortar businesses. When affiliates complain they can't make $100k a year by working 6 hours a week then have they checked what it takes to make the same amount of money in MLM, insurance or real estate brokerage?

Insurance agents blame online insurance comparison sites for the demise of their profit margins, travel agents blame Expedia, real estate brokers blame Zillow. Adult affiliates blame Manwin.

I also knew big aff's that worked very hard and made big money.So it wasnt all lazy people raking in cash but it wasnt reality and was going to end. All those industries were effected by the web but they didnt giveaway someone else's work therefore making the product worthless. A house bought on Zillow is still worth $200k, its not because of Zilllow you have to throw in 5 extra houses for the same price. Also centralized traffic sources are a very bad thing because they call the shots and its not like you can go somewhere else.

I had issues with Acacia, correct, but I never felt any sort of grudge to the people that worked there. Why would I hate on some secretary or mail room clerk or whatever? That would be like hating the Walmart check out person just because Sam Walton is a douche bag.

Would I prefer to shop somewhere besides Walmart because of their predatory crush the small guy approach? Sure, but the reality is sometimes it is just a matter of convenience that I would have to shop at one place that has everything I need. Manwin has traffic. We have not had any problems working with them. Their staff are professional. Therefore we shop at the Walmart of adult.

Doesn't make me an apologist. Makes me a realist.

When we created the group to fight Acacia, that was against something that did effect everyone but only a very small group of companies came together to fight the problem. Many other companies sold out to Acacia. Whereas, Manwittingly does actually benefit a lot of companies that do biz with them and believe it or not they will always try and help their partners be more profitable. That is much different.
