Its not Obamas fault its you Canadians-the disaster that is healthcare.gov

So the CGI Group a Canadian company was hired to build the Obama HealthCare site healthcare.gov estimated originally to cost $93,000,000 to build now estimated to have cost $634,000,000

Are you Canadians familiar with the term 'backcharge'?

It seems obvious we all got scammed by the overcharge -- but does anyone think the site just plain doesn't work? Maybe it was conservative sabotage? Or just lazy people who didn't give shit worked on it? That would be a direct result of shitty Democratic leadership and management.

But this is the way the Government does business. Its not their money, why should they care?

E-health has been getting raped. i know lots of techs doing the work.

government retards + it sales people = big money x % its always a big commission check.

it's a system designed to fail.

p.s. why in the hell didn't they get a US firm to do it?

That is the odd part of this story. All the people that created big data programming in the Silicone Valley and the US government cannot build an American website for Americans with American workers?

I am all for globalization on a competitive basis, but do you think that the EU would hire an American or Asian company to create government websites of importance for them?

That said, creating a website like healthcare.gov is a huge undertaking but they have had time to plan it out and that planning is a debacle. Again, I call on the Secretary of HHS to resign, if she doesn't: Obama should axe her and find someone competent to fix this mess.

That analogy is silly, and makes no sense at all....

The iphone was built with private money, not money taken from citizens by force.

People are not forced by law to use the iphone. If the new iphones fail, then people will simply not buy them. In this case, we are forced to use it.

If the Iphone fails then people will not be forced to pay to improve it.

If the iphone does not sell then changes will be made. If the department at apple in charge of iphones does not make it a competitive product then there are repercussions, and continued lack of performance will get people fired. Government NEVER does this.

etc, etc.......

They are not related in any way.

Sorry Tony, but that was a big fail.

CMS provided another $55 million to Quality Software Services, a Maryland-based health care IT company, to build the data hub, software that serves as an intermediary between all those federal agencies and the Obamacare exchanges.
Several other federal contractors have also been awarded multi-million dollar contracts to assist with various aspects of building and operating the exchanges. A June report by the Government Accountability Office found that CMS had already committed to spend $394 million on the system.
i guess all these american companies had nothing to do with it.. especially 'quality software services' outta maryland.

CGI is a Canadian headquartered company, but they are global and have a very large US presence:

http://www.cgi.com/en/us

Quote:
As a leading IT and business process services firm, CGI is committed to helping our public and private sector clients achieve mission and business results. We have a large presence in the U.S., with about 12,000 professionals in more than 50 offices
So chances are that all or most of the work was carried out in the US by US workers. That is probably one of the requirements of getting a contract with the federal government.

Come on people... It's a huge system so there are bound to be bugs. There is also overwhelming demand and traffic to the servers.

If you want to know what tons of traffic can do, try buying a pass to San Diego Comicon online. Once you jump through the hoops to qualify to purchase, you can wait hours on a single page for your turn to purchase.

Articles written by outsiders about a complex system they know nothing about are useless. The affordable care act seems popular at the moment and is probably hear to stay. Crying about it and trying to get others to cry with you (as the author of the article seems to be trying to do) won't help anyone.

I really cannot totally blame a Canadian multinational for the fuckup. And I sure hope they didn't contract essential portions to Mumbai.

The fact is the work flow and the intake procedure for the public release was poorly planned and the results show.

The HHS Department should take the real blame and heads should roll.

I agree that it should have been kept at home. Stupid to spend the money outside the US when sooo many people inside could use the work.

You say that this is a Huge undertaking? Not really.

Its an e-commerce site. Plenty of people around here have sites getting more traffic daily and no issues.
