if i were driving that suv none of this would have happened. he's responsible for his wife and kids, he should have and could have de-escalated the situation way before the video starts.
i can't think of how many times i've de-escalated a driving issue, on bikes and in cars. and that's without having a wife and kids in the car. he might not be getting charged with a crime, but he is certainly not going to win any defensive driver awards. |
Survival instinct activated, adrenaline flowing, at which point the motorbikers are foolish to play chicken with a Range Rover :2 cents:

So you are saying that the driver should have been able to de-escalate the situation AFTER the collision? Yea right - you have dozens of angry guys in helmets banging on your car and screaming at you and you're supposed to somehow de-escalate it? |

i stated he should have and could have de-escalated the situation way before the video started. |

The biker in white T shirt (who is in jail now) is taunting the SUV driver and talking shit, meanwhile the driver is slowing down even more, then the biker just brakes right into the SUV causing the collision. What ever happened that pissed this biker off is not seen on the video, but it's clear the SUV Driver was slowing and staying calm and trying to just let them all pass. It's just too bad THAT biker isn't the one who is now paralyzed. |

I want to hear from the other side because I didn't see anyone attacking the SUV in the beginning. |

i've seen it many many times, from both bikeS and cars, that's how i know i could have de-escalated it all way before the video starts. my goal when driving is to avoid altercations, events, issues, etc. i've seen shit like this coming from a mile away in my rearview and i move out of the way. if they want to be agressive and belligerent on the road, well, best thing for me and my fam is to let them. a chunk of concrete is not worth fighting over. it's your's, you're welcome. :) |

And your "best friend mechanic" is clueless if he honestly told you H-D has to be run at 25 MPH; even when the motors were cast iron that was not true; definitely not true after they went to aluminum. VW's are air-cooled . . . do they have to run at 25MPH? |

It is clear that right at beginning of video there is a mob of bike going after and surrounding the SUV. |
One thing is clear from this thread: Vendzilla has the IQ of a Hummingbird.
|
there are a few very rare scenarios where a h-d could overheat under 25mph. on my 107" build it did not like hot days, even with an oil cooler + syn
i got the red shut down light come on a few times when we'd be puttin in traffic. harleys that do a lot of parades also can have heating issues under 25mph in heat, in fact, the parade fan was invented to help deal with that, which had alos installed on my 107 http://i.ebayimg.com/t/LeNale-Coolin...HfQ!vg~~_3.JPG |

no wonder he hit the guy brake checking. instead, he should have been doing everything within his control to extricate his family from the situation, but he's multi-tasking with a absolute need to report those guys right then and there, asap. pronto poste haste. i'm not the best driver on the planet by far, but i would know how to keep this all from happening if i were the driver here. |

especially when all he would of had to do is move over to the right. that's what caused this, bike packs like that think and act like they own the 2 fast lanes and you/we are expected to get out of the way. if he were intent on protecting his family he would have simply changed lanes way before the video started. but he missed his chance to keep his family out of trouble and instead got them further in it. i'm not blaming him. shit escalates fast and peeps have to think on their feet. i get that. nevertheless, i'm confident i would have never put my family in the situation that guy put his family in. |

my last option is running over motorcyclists, i would rather live a life not having done that in a situation i could have avoided. |

you have a daughter. you're saying you'd have been all sunshine and lollipops with this? |
I think for sure the SUV guy deserved a few punches in the face because you can't just run over people even if they are in the wrong
It's like if a pedestrian stood in front of your car at a red light you can't just run him over once the light turns green. So at the end of the day the SUV guy got what he deserved and the Ryders got what they deserved |

But you have a legal responsibility to avoid an accident When that guy slowed down like that, the SUV should have hit the brakes. http://www.duhaime.org/LegalDictiona...eDoctrine.aspx A principle of tort law which requires an individual to take every action at hand to avoid an accident where peril to another human being is otherwise imminent. |

I see that it is across the board ... At least, you are consistent .... :1orglaugh |
In this thread everyone would sit there calmly as a mass of angry bikers surrounds you and your family. Im sure you'd all be cool as a cucumber...oh sure ill just pull over here and put my hazards on. All it takes is one idiot with a gun...

What about the white girl riding on the back of one bike, and the white guy in the hells angels jacket too. Also there were a few black guys too. Are you gonna call those races out? |
