they are not working because hardly any of the production companies that are left are shooting. They are all rehashing old scenes or buying cheap content for new releases no one shoots anymore!!!!!

But it;s more right for an "average" site.
I believe , that if you have a number one studio on c4s with one of the best high and mainstream sites, still you will do much more with mainstream. (despite all the tubes)
While, if you have an average porn site, you will make more selling fetish.

The company I was working for wanted me to work cheaper since there are guys in LA that will shoot just to be around pussy. When you can make a lot more shooting mainstream what is the point? It use to be a lot more lucrative than it is now and next time you question someone's rate ask them to break down the costs. Most people just don't get it as a lot of morons in this thread. There isn't much money left in porn unless you are shooting for the companies that actually pay. A lot of companies that want cheap content will fail when you get what you pay for in this industry. I use to make as much as the models as a shooting but for me to have to cut that in half and demote myself to less than I made shooting mainstream before porn is just ridiculous. A lot of the producers that will shoot for nothing are mopes that went and bought a camera from Best Buy and call themselves producers. Those type of shooters will only make you look bad to the agents and they wont send you the top girls. On top of that these type of producers will be the shady types and can lead to your company ending up in a courtroom soon.

I thought I was doing well in porn for a while in LA but even when I was getting the rate I wanted most of it went to taxes & equipment just to keep up with technology. Once I had spent tons of equipment to help develop artistic shooting operations for a major company I was shit on and replaced by a crew that I trained myself. I was told they would be shooting in another region so I was to train them but in fact they took over my whole shooting operation. They even stole my production assistants/makeup artists.

I remember back in the day sending girls to do shoots for Cum Fiesta.
They had air ticket paid for
Driver paid for
Hotel paid for
Food paid for
and made $2,300 for one shoot...

Now,
Most of the above is paid by the Model and the prices are like you just said.
Sure some agents pay for the flight, but then the girl makes the $800 instead of $1200, it all evens out in the end....

Myth. This may have been true in 2010 or 2011 but now most fetish terms show the same tubes on the first page in Google. Worse since there were so few people interested in the content already you can't make it up on volume potentially as you can in bigger niches. Once that small pool starts buying less you are screwed.

The adult industry did have a near total collapse over the last 4 years or so, and I'm sure I'm not alone in having all of my best clients go the way of the Dodo bird.
Even Playboy/Realitycash and PORN.COM stopped shooting years ago. They were my top clients, so that left a gaping hole in my schedule and fucked up my finances for sure.

Since then I have dropped my prices considerably. I have been shooting for lots of smaller companies and shooting in the studio for one of the last big porn companies SCORE GROUP in Miami.
I do not turn down legitimate work, but I can't afford to stay in business for peanuts either.

This is coming from one of the best and most dependable producers in South Florida. I have many thousands of solid scenes of all kinds shot over 15 years and recently for the last 2 years my photos have been in around 5 -10 different magazines per month for SCORE.

Talented photographers/Videographers ought to make what they are worth. There's enough guys that shoot shit content out there and you get what you pay for.

I'm not currently kicking ass and taking names shooting porn. I make much more shooting non-adult.

Also, if you want to talk about paying per hour for a camera/video guy with full gear it's not gonna be as cheap as a day rate. So your hourly rate is not a fair gauge of what producers get in general. I can shoot 3 or 4 solid assorted scenes in a day.

The camera guy has to be available to shoot when you want to. He can't have a regular job unless he's doing it for the pussy.

What's an adult producer with full PRO camera and video gear and lighting ($15,000.00 or so investment) worth per hour for an 8 - 10 hour day?
$25.00 per hour?
$35.00 per hour?
$50.00 per hour?
Wait you don't wanna pay minimum wage , do ya?

I'll gladly put in a full day's work for a full days pay.

Looking for new clients all the time who want top quality content for reasonable rates.

I feel for both sides of the equation because I buy content for SpookyCash, but, as a freelancer, I've also shot for Playboy, Penthouse, AVN, Hustler, etc.

Having the freelance dough be so negligible that it is barely gravy on even back catalog is frustrating. Especially factoring in how much used to be on the table.

As a buyer,I understand that some budgets are not enough for someone to set up a new shoot, but I am always surprised by people who feel like it is too much work to pull something from back catalog or the shooters who agree to a budget (with all details worked out) and do the shoot but are so proud of the one image they got formatted but are too lazy to batch post-process a whole set.

The worst are the photogs who want me to give them a professional portfolio critique for a week and then they decide that they do not want to make the deal they agreed to because they are actually going to do their own site. (Zero of those guys have ended up with successful membership sites.)
