I went to school and was in some classes with George Zimmerman when we were both younger, we both were in school in Manassas/Prince William County.

One; not even sure what you think it proves other than YOU THINK they show he should not have been in fear for his life. I have not seen any police reports provided however I will say this . . . if you take a police report at its word you have obviously never read a police report that was about you.

As far as videos are concerned, what videos have you shown that go against GZ? The prosecution entered their videos of their questioning of GZ and all that did was make it so GZ will probably never have to testify.

I do not get my facts from a story written by a reporter because every one of them are going to put a slant on it depending on their views. I am getting my facts from evidence entered in court . . . it is ALL that matters.

If Zimmerman didn't shoot the kid, he would have gotten a broken nose at the most.

But Martin had done nothing wrong... Zimmerman forced the confrontation by following and stalking the kid. The kid was walking back from the store with his skittles; If Zimmerman didn't get a chubby wishing he was a police office and minded his own business none of this would have happened.

The medical examiner clearly stated that Zimmermans injuries were insignificant, akin to scraping not bashing. I think Zimmerman is a liar and thats why I dont like him. Martin never saw or reached for that gun. Impossible. Things happened too fast. He should have stayed in his truck till police arrived. I wish this kid for the sake of his parents would have continued to run. But if you pay attention to other similar cases, most teenage males will eventually choose to "stand their ground" its the natural reaction, most masculine. No one deserves to die that way, especially a person not committing a crime and minding their own business.

Spot on. Though he is still not guilty of murder. There is no way to PROVE he didn't fear for his life in that situation and moment. It just cannot be done. It's always a guess.

Whether most people who ever sit on a jury can actually comprehend that, and thus follow the same set of laws they are supposedly upholding, by returning a not guilty verdict is obviously another matter, and almost never happens.

Zimmerman claimed he wanted to be a cop so he could 'hunt fugitives and make sure they don't get away'. In the phone call to 911 he also made reference to 'these punks always get away'. Enough said.

People tend to get nuts when they have had their neighborhood robbed several times. As I understand it, several homes there had been broken into. So yeah...unfortunately that can drive people to get an attitude like that.

I would probably feel that same way if my neighbors homes were broken into. I'd start keeping a lookout and be worried that I would be next. And if I saw somebody I didn't know walking up into my neighbors yards right beside their homes (that's what TM was doing) under those circumstances (recent robberies) then I'd get pissed and go after them too.

I guess we can all agree that the whole thing really sucks. TM was a typical young man. Smoked a little weed, acted out a bit, put some dumb pics of himself flipping the bird on his Facebook page, got into a little trouble at school. Just like millions of young men do as teens.

It was just a very bad situation that happened. TM had no idea that there had been robberies in that neighborhood. And being young and dumb he probably thought nothing about confronting GZ when he realized he was being followed. I would have done that too (even now that I'm older and still dumb).

One thing I wouldn't have done is walk up in people's yards at night.

I'm from Fla. and lived near Tampa in my childhood. And people in central Florida WILL shoot your ass if they see you on their property.

So to this day I won't walk up onto someone else's property. I think that was mistake number one for TM that night.

His second and fatal mistake was turning to confront GZ and getting all physical about it. It just goes to show that you never know who you may be fucking with. You never know who has a knife, or a gun, etc.

Seems like it was a tragic "perfect storm".

If GZ had just stayed in his vehicle nothing would have happened. But as you pointed out...his earlier language shows that the people living in that neighborhood were angry, scared, and frustrated by getting their homes broken into. Makes for a dangerous situation.

1. He lied to the court about not having any money during his bond hearing even though he was sitting on $135,000.

2. He claimed Martin jumped out of the bushes then in his walk through interview he discovered there were no bushes he then changed his story and told the detective he was approached from behind.

3. He lied about getting his head smashed to the concrete 25-30 times.

4. He claimed he knows all of his neighbors, yet not one neighbor that testified knew who he was.

5. He claimed he didnt know the name of the street and thats why he was out walking around, even though there are only 3 streets in the whole complex.

I thought you were watching the trial? You should know all of this.

In all fairness, I don't blame him one bit for that.

The govt. just wanted to get their hands on his money so they could give some of it to their bail bondsman buddies. (police, judges, bail bondsmen and all officers of the court all work together 5 days a week).

If I had been in his shoes I would have kept that money hid too. Obviously he can't go to work anymore, and he needs money to pay his attorneys. He has a wife and bills to pay.

Instead the govt. seized his money. I don't think that's right at all. But then, I'm no fan of big govt.

By the way...I found an interesting fact for all my Democrat & Republican friends: Zimmerman is a registered Democrat.

The main witness for the prosecution was Rachel Jeantel, the last person besides George Zimmerman to talk to Trayvon Martin before he was killed. Her testimony was crucial to the fabric of the prosecution?s case. She testified that she was on the phone with Trayvon and that he was afraid of a creepy man following him. Trayvon ran from the man who chased him and was finally accosted by him. Jeantel testified that she heard Trayvon say ?get off, get off,? indicating that a struggle ensued by that point. This is important to establish the foundation of the prosecution?s case.

It shows that Trayvon was running and attempting to get away from Zimmerman, which are important facts to show that Zimmerman was the aggressor.

Another prosecution witness, John Good, testified that he was a witness to the fight that ensued between Zimmerman and Trayvon. Although the prosecution called him, it appeared that Good helped the defense with his testimony. Good testified that he saw two men tussling and the man on top appeared to be a darker skinned man and the man on bottom was lighter skinned. Essentially, his testimony is stating that Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman. Additionally, he concluded the screams for help came from Zimmerman and not Trayvon, since the screams would logically be from the person on the bottom. However, he is not certain.

As we all know, a person can start a fight but may not win. Since Zimmerman was trained in MMA (Mixed Marital Arts), he may have thought he had the skill to beat Martin. However, when the tables were turned while Martin defended himself, Zimmerman shot and killed the unarmed youth.

Another former neighbor of Zimmerman named Jonathan Manalo testified. He testified that Zimmerman did not appear in shock shortly after the shooting and was very calm. Manalo called Zimmerman?s wife to let her know what happened and while he was on the phone giving her details of how the shooting occurred, Zimmerman dryly said, ?Just tell her I shot someone.?

This is important because the jury considering this case may feel Zimmerman appeared cold. This characterization would be extremely harmful to the defense.

Other key testimony came from Lindzee Folgate, a family practice physician assistant who treated Zimmerman for injuries. She testified about Zimmerman?s wounds and that he was training in MMA three days per week. That was harmful to the defense because it showed that Zimmerman was training as a fighter. This appears to go with the theory of the prosecution that Zimmerman was overzealous and attempted to fight Martin, was losing the fight, and finally shot to kill him.

This is why I think it is more likely that if GZ is convicted of anything it will be manslaughter not murder 2. My understanding is that for murder 2 to be proven they must show that GZ intended to hurt Martin and I don't think that was the case. I think it was a case of an overzealous guy who has a police fetish trying to do what he thought was the right thing and it ending with the death of someone.

As you said, the entire thing was avoidable. During Zimmerman's 911 call he even says that Martin is looking at him and coming toward him. He could have tried to defuse the situation right there by calling out to him and identifying himself as a neighborhood watch person and asking Martin if he was okay. There is no way of knowing how Martin would have reacted to that, but at least then it would have been 100% clear who he was and why he was stopped and looking at Martin.

In the end, Zimmerman's decision to follow Martin ultimately led to his death. I don't think it is murder 2, more like manslaughter, but like you said, it really was just the perfect storm of two people meeting at the wrong time in the wrong place under the wrong circumstances.

In your heart of hearts if you truly don't believe this guy was the aggressor your a sick fool. Just because he may get acquitted doesn't mean he isn't guilty. He's very guilty. There may not be enough evidence to support Murder 2 however. Unfortunately for Martin, he was born black, and didn't turnout to be a perfect kid, and there was no video of the incident from start to finish. So there are sick minds who feel like he deserved to be shot. Manslaughter was the appropriate charge and slam dunk.

I believe (I hope i should say, they are paid to do this btw) the prosecution knows this and over charged on purpose so that at least some conviction is possible. If they try manslaughter first and lose Zimmerman walks scott free. I dont think Zimmerman is racist. Profiling in itself isnt racist.

Zimmerman seems to think he was something he wasn't.

I'm stunned this person was even allowed to be on the neighborhood watch. He was rejected by the police, had a restraining order, and assaulted a police officer. He took anger management classes. He didn't know anyone in his neighborhood, and didn't even know the street names when there was only three of them.

This is not the kind of person you want running around with a firearm trying to protect people.

He would not have known it to be "stand your ground" from the course that he took as it was not taught as being the "stand your ground" law as there is not any such law. It has been nick named by the media as the "stand your ground" law.
