Gfy Experts: What the hell makes a LawnBoy mower run great and then just STOP
It starts right back up after it stops.. it'll run for 1-5 minutes and then just STOP. Then it starts up again, no problem.
I took the carb down and cleaned the hell out of everything inside and all of the little passage ways.. I changed the plug and the air filter.... It's a Model 16048 with the Tecumseh and it looks like it's about 6.5hp The gas is fresh, I cleaned the tank and the lines, I ran a little alcohol through everything in case it had water in it.. The o rings look good.. the oil ain't overfilled It's this mower (not my video) |

Sounds like your fuel line is glogged with gunk
Blow it out...personally this has happened to me after starting it after it sat all winter with gas in it. Also a small engine shop should be able to do that for like $20

Could be some condensation in the gas too.

yup if you have any water in your gas can or left over after cleaning your tank you need to drain it all and clean it and let it dry 100%

was thinking that, but would it still start if the fuel line/tank is plugged/dirty?

First you need to check if there is a spark, you can do that by holding the spark plug cable as closer as you can to the spark plug with out touching it and having someone pull the cord and see if there is a spark, if there is, then hook the plug back up and take the air filter off and shoot a blast of starter fluid down it and see if it starts, if it does, you have a fuel problem

Yeah, the gas is fresh, I cleaned out the tank and the lines, etc. .
Narrowing it down to a sticking float, I guess, but I cleaned THAT too. I'm done fucking with it I suppose- I will just sell it cheaper. I have almost $20 in this thing though ![]() I was hoping for $100-$150 when I thought it was going to work |

Sounds like a stuck float bowl in the carb & starving it for gas. Does it just shut off with no sputter? Or does it sputter on for 30 seconds doing the dance of death

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. Either there's some varnish somewhere in the carb that you aren't seeing or you could have issues with the lines themselves. May be time for a carb rebuild. Check for rot and pin-holes in the lines. I've had small engines do the same thing in the past and it always turns out to be fuel related.
On the off chance it's not. Check to see of there's any slack in the safety cable that shuts off the ignition (I think most mowers now have this). If that cable stretches it can sit right in the cusp of being engaged. I had a mower that would run and when it heated up it was just enough to shut it off. Adjusted the cable and it worked fine after that

Stupid. I am a Dom. Women I see treat me like a king. Begging to suck my load out of me. Bringing me drinks. Etc. And I STILL would not have a woman outside mowing the lawn. How men do that is beyond me. Be a man. Being outside doing something like that feels good.
I let a woman mow the lawn and work out automobiles, once, but only because she fuckin loved it. |

I checked everything pretty closely. I definitely think the float is sticking. The cable is pretty good- there is a stupid extra safety thing, but it turned out to not be the problem. So confusing. It doesn't even seem to be temp related. It stops. It starts right back up. Without even priming the thing |

You said you cleaned out all the little pathways, did you get the hole in the screw at the bottom of the carb cup? .
