As someone who has been a victim of identity theft TWICE, I can tell you first hand that you should do everything possible, including watermarking the ID as AdultKing suggests, when submitting your ID to anyone. You're begging for issues otherwise. You never really know who is behind any of these companies or what their real goal is, be it mainstream or adult.
Trust no one with your ID / passport. It can ruin your credit and make life very difficult for many years if someone uses them fraudulently. |

Hi KillerK,
At Paxum we require all submitted verification documentation to be in full color, high quality with the margins/borders visible. The document must be uncropped and untouched in any way. Clients may feel free to add a watermark to the external sections of their submitted ID, however no watermark should cross any characters (or marks, etc) on the actual document itself. When it comes to KYC, Paxum uses the strongest verification system possible, even though this can sometimes irritate customers whose documents aren't fully in order/compliant. By adhering to such stringent methods we significantly reduce fraudulent accounts through our system. This is of benefit to ALL our customers. As with any service like Paxum, each individual client has the right to comply with our requirements, or to choose not to. As per Paxum's rules and requirements, we will only allow verified Paxum clients to fully use their accounts. I hope this clears up any confusion you may have about our verification document requirements. Please feel free to contact me directly should you have any further questions or require any assistance with your account. Ruth

So why would a 30% visible watermark diagonally across a scanned document fail verification? You can still clearly make out all letters and digits and it prevents an unscrupulous employee from using that scan for nefarious reasons (like opening a merchant account as someone else suggested).
Security goes both ways. Will you provide me with the full name of anyone who has access to my ID? Doubtful. You're the face of Paxum and we only know you as Ruth B. You even avoid using your name on your professional Facebook profile. Why is using your name in financial services a bad thing? I can tell you the full name of the managers at my Bank of America. It's on their cards. |

I LOL'd when Chris told AdultKing he'd need to verify his account before he could close it. |

Putting a low opacity watermark over your ID should not be an issue at all so long as you can still see what is under it.
Kudos to all who submitted a clean ID to internet strangers who only has a known business history of selling penis pills. My email is in my sig, please send them to me too. I pinky swear I won't do anything bad with them. |

If paxum go bust for some reason like epass, they can always make money off from selling your ID. Identify theft is a big online business. I LOL'd how paxum requirement are even more stricter than other card company that use the exact same bank as them. This should give you hint people. |

What's also quite lame is that when you verify a business bank account on a business Paxum account by supplying all sorts of documents, each time you make a wire withdrawal they have to verify it again (i don't know what they do exactly but it does take 1 to 3 days before the wire is actually sent out).

In my experience that's not the case. I usually have the money in my bank account between 48 and 72 hrs after I request the wire.

Also, very few employees have access to documents. We have a dedicated team that does the account commissioning, and we keep logs in order to know who viewed which document at which time. A hardware key is required to access documents, so they cannot be viewed remotely; it can only be done on site. The computers are monitored and any way of exporting data is blocked; only certain functionalities are enabled, and web service restricted to a need-to-use basis. Everybody must follow these procedures. These procedures are also audited ON-SITE by FINTRAC and Mastercard and our banking partners, and we have never had a problem. If there was an obvious data breach like the ones you suggest could happen, our license would have been revoked a long time ago, and due to the strict privacy laws of Canada, there would likely be legal issues as well. This is simply NOT the case because we comply with ALL procedures and regulations. Lastly, the requirements we have are passed down to us. We are fully aware of the fact that we are strict about everything, and if it hadn't been this way, we'd probably have more accounts than we do, some people are scared or simply give up. We wish it were different, and we are looking for ways to relax the requirements, but as long as it's not officially approved, we won't risk allowing accounts that we know will not pass an external KYC test. we're playing by the rules, and that's not getting us any love, but we don't really have a choice. We've never had any issue in that department, and though we know we'd open more accounts if we bent the rules, we are sticking with our principles. As far as the names of our managers go, you can contact us at shows (which we regularly attend), or set up a meeting, or even drop in at the new Montreal office. We'd be glad to welcome you. Quote:
