2257 question

Quick question. 2257 states you have to keep the records separate from all other records. Does that mean location IE. Studio/ Place of business. or different filing cabinets or something like that at your business location.

In other words can I have my business files in the same room as my model records or must they be in a different room or location. Thank in advance.

If you have this question - you should probably have an attorney. I'll be happy to recommend you some.

Welcome to my ignore list viencarl. Asswipe.

Keeping the records separate simply means if you keep other records, like your household records or business records, you need to keep the 2257 records separate. If you keep the records on a computer I would recommend dedicating a computer to the task and using that computer for nothing else. That also will help if you ever are inspected because the feds will hopefully restrict their investigation to that computer and not tie up your other computers.

If you keep hard copies, then I suggest that you use a file cabinet that contains nothing but the 2257 records.

My advice is to never keep just digital copies of such very important data. PRINT EVERYTHING and keep it in a file cabinet all it's own and very organized (Like the hammer said). File folders are cheap, so invest in some :P

I would put each girl in their own folder and then alphabetical order by last name in this file cabinet that again you use just for the purpose of 2257. In mine I have also one proof sheet of the photoset I had taken for the girl. It's not really needed but it helps me remember who is who over the years. You would be surprised what you forget 10 years down the road. :P

what is better keeping digital records or hard copies. All my records are stored in both forms but I do have a dedicated file cabinet just for my 2257 as well. My attorney is a family friend and does not know adult law so getting answers from him is a pain, and since I'm just starting out I don't really have the money to invest in a specialist. At this point all the content on my site is non-nude any way until I figure every thing out. Do I need to worry about inspections if I have non-nude images on the site.

Technically, you don't need to comply with 2257 if the images are not explicit, because 2257 is a records keeping law specifically for explicit content. Does that mean you would never be subject to a non 2257 related search? Depends on the content.
