Any paysite owners have stream only or DRM videos? : What's your retention ratio?

I'm at 33% all my videos in my members section are flash. No trials, $29.99 30days, and I'm using Zombaio.

I'm at about 80%. All my videos use secure streaming. Also no trials, different price points, and using Zombaio like you.

Wow, 80% of your members rebill. Well, I'm definitely doing something wrong.

It's the quiet guys in the background who don't speak up much that are likely dominating this biz.

Congrats on that long-term member Yeah, we have to work harder now, than 10 years ago, but I'm not complaining. There is still money to be made.

Okay, I will spill the beans.. No secrets

On average, yes. However, technically it is not 80% of all members. Some members choose to rebill for many months.

It is a fan site of the amateur girl and pornstar Barbara DEVIL.

We have worked hard on making the site divert from standard cookie-cutter sites.

You can take a look here.

The affiliate program has not been our highest concern, as we have been more busy with updating the members area and renewing the tour. But we are working on adding more promo tools soon.

Percentage sounds like too strong of a number especially when u add the little sale pitch at the end.

If your looking to try and stop trading drm would be the better choice. It can be cracked but the casual trader wont be able to do that or be bothered.I dont know who started this myth you cant steal flash video but I have seen tons of it stolen in my travels.

Hmm. Tony, I don't see why that percentage should sound that high at all. Nothing strange about it. In fact I think that number could be improved a lot. So that's something for me to work on.

Maybe Zombaio counts retention differently than you do?

Here is the screenshot.

I assume that the OP was also reffering to Zombaio's stats.

Yes I was, that is fucked. Seriously, fucked.

My site is new though, and even though it's mostly exclusive content there isn't a whole lot of it, (that's my excuse for my pathetic #s lol).

I'm just wondering if not offering download-able videos is actually hurting me. I get quite a few members who complain about that fact.

edit:

Okay I was looking at your site and see it's also apart of the deluxepass pass network??

How does it do apart of the network vs solo using Zombaio as a processor?

The fact that your site is new could be the reason that your retention rate is initially low. On my site I think also only about 1/3 of new members rebill. Then there are repeat customers who have a habit of canceling immediately on the same day as they signup, but re-signup again a couple of months later. These repeat customers will make your retention rate look smaller than it really is. But those who rebill, rebill for a long time. So over time as you grow bigger a satisfied member base the number should increase.

Anyone agree or disagree?

I see it can be confusing to talk about Zombaio when I also use DeluxePass.
There are actually two identical sites. One on each platform.

The stats I showed you were for the stand-alone version using Zombaio.
On the DeluxePass site the retention rate is a bit higher. 2:1 180%

I forgot to mention that you can get some useful feedback from your canceling customers on Reports -> Cancel Statistics.

For a site to retain well it has to be in a niches and style that's not repeated on 100s of other sites. Plus lots of quality updates of different twists and style in the same niche.genre. The buyer is no fool today and he knows there's lots more of the same or similar on the Net today.

That's what I'm hoping. As I add content I hope my retention ratio increases. I have a handful of members that are still recurring when I first opened the site, but I opted not to have notification emails sent out when a membership rebills.

Yeah I was curious about that. I would've guessed the retention ratio through DeluxePass would be a lot higher for obvious reasons.

I agree with that. I actually got an email a few weeks back requesting I add a subscribe option so he could be notified when I added more content to my tour. LOL.

It is a unique fetish site though, everything I promote is. I can't make a dime with the mainstream crap nowadays.

Interesting idea... hm..

Having a mailing list telling loyal customers "Listen up. It is time for you to sign up again". Similar to whenever Apple rolls out a new product, and their followers rush to buy it.

Yes, but instead of adding a traditional mailing list, I decided to add a forum. You can create threads when you update while getting suggestions, feedback, etc from users who are interested but didn't elect to sign-up. Plus, obviously you can send emails to all your registered users.

I'm also using Zom for our celebrity site that has been online for years... we have trials but don't have drm etc. We have givin our members regular updates for years but we always do other updates in the members area with a twist and thats why I think our retention ratio is so great!

ha ha, yeah I don't get how your stats are showing over 100%. It just makes my ratio look so sad, like there is a glitch that shows ridiculous numbers but mine are still low regardless.
