There are so many free pop-up killers now...i think isp's are beginning to offer free ones with their software...i know earthlink is.

ColKurtz 10-22-2002 12:29 PM

Decent idea, and I'm sure with the copycat nature of the adult net, there will be about ten similar programs out in the future.

Pop ups are a good thing that have been so abused. At mainstream sites the consoles are even worse than on the adult.

gigi 10-22-2002 12:30 PM

Yup, yer right pr0.

And people have voiced their discontent with consoles, plain and simple. They will even PAY to get rid of 'em.....so, if they're gonna pull out their wallet, we'd rather them be paying adult webmasters than someone else. ;)

ColKurtz 10-22-2002 12:33 PM

One question, the pricing. 39.95 that renews to 9.95 I dont understand what the renewal gives. With a product like this, I think the last thing people want is a renewing fee.

Rich J. 10-22-2002 12:37 PM

Whats next... a join page killer? How about a credit card disabler? While we're at it... lets just create a program that kills their computer all together. That way we'll never have to make any money from the web again.

Amputate Your Head 10-22-2002 12:37 PM

you know, I hate these fuckin' popup killer programs.... not because I enjoy popup hells, because I hate them..... but because in addition to killing moronic use of popup ads, they also kill legit functional popups like java login consoles, popup full size pics, small copyright notice popups, clever menus, contact forms, etc.... making that form of design essentially useless to anyone running one of these fucking popup killers.

Hopefully surfers will eventually figure that out too and discontinue use of such software.

gigi 10-22-2002 12:38 PM

Colkurtz,

The 9.95 is for updates to the program if they want them. You know as well as I do how quickly the Internet changes and new types of consoles are created everyday.....KillThatConsole.com keeps up with these changes and offers updates to those that would like to stay up to date. :D

gigi 10-22-2002 12:41 PM

Those are some good points AYH...

I'm checking out the program myself right now and I'll let you know it's abilities soon....

ColKurtz 10-22-2002 12:42 PM

Yea, thats what I figured. My concern is that , that when surfers hit that join page and see "renews at 9.95" without any explanation of what its for, some will decide not to join. I think just the base fee with something like "includes updates for 6 months" or something would be much more powerful.

gigi 10-22-2002 12:47 PM

Great poing ColKurtz...

I'll forward your suggestions to our marketing team! :Graucho

insidethegame 10-22-2002 12:48 PM

This is easily the dopeiest announcment by a big sponsor Ive ever seen. What are you guys gonna make off this fuckin product 10K a month...and how much is hustler and cash quest gonna lose on traffic from STOPPED pop up consoles...or companies that remove your traffic thinking this is a DIRECT ATTACK on their business models!!!

Why didnt you release the "shoot my dick off I dont need it anymore program" or maybe " fuck me I dont need the Money program"...or perhaps the "gee I like fuckin myself out of Money" program.

At a time when MOST webmasters are VERY concerned about sustaining current revenue through adult signups this is easily with out a doubt the dopiest product move by a big company EVER.

playa 10-22-2002 12:49 PM

this will ruin the industry, lol

gigi 10-22-2002 12:52 PM

insidethegame,

This is about changing with the times, plain and simple. Surfers have made it painfully clear that they do not like consoles.

There are several other console killing programs out there...some even free.

It is clear there is money in offering surfers a product like this...and we would prefer they pay us the dough, rather than someone else. ;)

It's all about keeping up, and CashQuest 2 has, and always will, do just that.

CashQuest 2 has never bit off our nose to spite our face, and we don't plan on doing it now.

This is about money, and taking advantage of an opportunity....no more, no less.

Rich J. 10-22-2002 12:56 PM

I'll make sure that CashQuest never gets another hit of our traffic... No way would I want our surfer going to a program that is actively promoting a product that eats directly into our business model. True these programs have been around for awhile but not untill now has one been so actively promoted to the adult web community. Like it or not... you just shot yourself in the foot and I hope the short term gains are worth it because in the long run you just screwed yourself out of alot of business.

ColKurtz 10-22-2002 12:56 PM

I agree with gigi on this. Its already out there and alot of popular firewalls like zone alarm I think are adding stuff like this.

Surfers want it and are willing to pay for it.

I would only promote this on my "quality" sites where my goal is to get a lot of bookmarkers and provide a good surfing experience.

Mr.Fiction 10-22-2002 12:57 PM

I like Cashquest, but this is fucking stupid.

The people they are targetting with this are the customers of adult site.

Why not release a banner killer program along with your next announcement of new banners at Cashquest?

Dumb and shortsighted idea.

BradShaw 10-22-2002 12:58 PM

For someone in adult to want to kill consoles is a bad idea. That is where alot of my income comes from (same for allpaysite owners). I am dissapointed Ken would promote such a product that will take more $ out of ALL our pockets, then put in it by selling this software. ;-(

BradShaw 10-22-2002 12:59 PM

Appears the backlash has begun and I am not alone. Ken is a smart guy, and maybe they will resonsider and pull this quickly.

gigi 10-22-2002 01:02 PM

Guys,

I understand this rubbing you the wrong way. Your responses are exactly what I would have said a while back.

BUT, CashQuest plans to be around for a VERY long time, and this means keeping up with the times.

Fact: People don't like consoles
Fact: They will get these programs elsewhere
Solution: Give them what they want

Don't be fooled.....CashQuest 2 has thought long and hard before implementing this program, and in the end, we felt it would be beneficial for both CashQuest AND webmasters.

:D

Mr.Fiction 10-22-2002 01:02 PM

I have to agree with Rich J., we will also be reconsidering all traffic that we send to any Cashquest related sites.

We have been with them for several years, but this move may change that.

Gigi, many surfers also want to see underage girls, rape, dog fucking, and who knows what else - does that mean you should provide it or try to make money on it?

You are trying to make money by taking money out of other webmaster's pockets. Spin it any way you want, but that is the bottom line.

Surfers don't have right to look at sites without ads. Ads are what pay for the internet, your sites included. Too bad if surfers don't like it.

Cashquest is fucking up bigtime.

BradShaw 10-22-2002 01:03 PM

This will not be beneficial to anyone, including you guys in the long run. Since consoles are so bad, why not remove them from your sites?

Amputate Your Head 10-22-2002 01:04 PM

we're all fuckin' doomed.

Mr.Fiction 10-22-2002 01:05 PM

Hey Gigi, why not sell password lists for paysites too?

I heard that surfers don't like paying for adult content.

Check out the new Cashquest2 site:

SuperUltraPasswords.com

Dumb.

nocostporn 10-22-2002 01:05 PM

yeah lets give the surfer what they want...i heard they love free porn too, shoot somemore of that at em

Sly_RJ 10-22-2002 01:05 PM

What an excellent idea! Let's create and mass promote a program that will eat into our long term revenue model! Who needs long term cash? I don't care about the multiple sales I'll get from pop-ups as long as I get a couple bucks right now!

So where do I sign up? I want to start eliminating pop-ups TODAY!

ColKurtz 10-22-2002 01:05 PM

Will sic be launching consolethatkilled.com next week.

I personally like the idea. Its just another secondary thing to promote along with shit like penis enlargment, internet eraser, etc.

If they are gonna buy zone alarm or whatever anyway, id rather make the money than norton or whoever the fuck.

Please GIGI...stop with the PR material reading!!! so if you are doing this because you realized the surfers have made it "painfully obvious" that they hate consoles, why haven't you pulled all your exits off of Hustler and CashQuest sites? AND "The guys" YOUR TALKIN ABOUT ARE ONES SENDING KEN AND LARRY millions of $$$ A MONTH!! mainly off exit POPS!..and YOU wanna help us make less in order to use us to direct market a product that makes us loose $$....HELLOOO..anybody home!!You must of thought" long and hard" about this at a late night bar or the opium den..What a bunch of shit!

What an excellent theory. As long as you can steal a quick buck from some other company that means it's a thumbs up idea.

Geesh...

Does this mean all Cash Quest sites don't have pop-ups?

gigi 10-22-2002 01:26 PM

Look you guys,

AOL 8.0 is now blockin consoles.

IE is rumored to be doing the same.

Why not cash in until the big boys kill it all?

You can either bend over to these huge companies and take it up the ass, or you can try to at least take some of their customers and turn them into your own.

You know as well as I do that this biz changes...and FAST...consoles are being hammered whether we like it or not...that won't change, so...we see it as taking advantage of a situation that might otherwise put money in someone else's pocket....

FATPad 10-22-2002 01:31 PM

I like it.

I bet some of the other major sponsors come out with their own version of this.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you bashing this promoted all the cookie cleaners out there?

Oh OUTSTANDING logic...lets,as an Adult company, join and infact HELP all the NON adult companies trin to put us out of business with this. This is akin to feeding on your own kind GIGI..PLEASE!

and CASH QUESTS Bus plan,as asspoused in your above remarks,"we see it as taking advantage of a situation that might otherwise put money in someone else's pocket",is to capitalize on short term gain and screw webmasters into thinking that the 5 bucks there gonna make on down loading the software will offset the 10 there gonna loose in adult signups on exits.Youve got a loosing argument her GIGI!

I'll admit it, I did, until I realized how stupid it was. I don't now though. I'm not going to actively promote the elimination of pop-ups. If it happens, it happens... but I don't want to be a part of it.

I hear Visa is trying to fuck with the processors. Let's all jump in, find a way to make some quick cash, and fuck the processors too! It's going to happen regardless, right? I might as well make an extra $30!

I did... because it made sense. Why not sell these guys something will give them a sense (albeit false) of security while they surf adult realted sites? Sorry, I just don't see the connection between a cookie cleaner and a popup killer.

I didn't promote that and I doubt I'll be promoting this.

I just think it's good, and I do think there will be more big sponsors following this.

Mr.Fiction 10-22-2002 01:44 PM

Cashquest is the last company I would have expected this from.

Seems very desperate.

Really? I heard the processors tried fucking all the paysite owners by making a last minute announcement, trying to bully people to stay with them, and letting all the problem sites run for years with high chargebacks that caused this mess.

How do I go about making my $30 off this now? :winkwink:

hmmm surfer decides between killing popups or keeping them just so they can use your artsy fartsy custom menu.

You are promoting a software that kills popup ads, but your own adult sites all have 5 consoles? I know you also have non-console linking codes. But promoting this software since you are also spamming consoles is a very strange marketing decision.

You should sell cigarettes and offer nicorette at the same time also.

I said "fuck with", which, they are. Visa is sick of them fucking things up, so they're pushing down on all the red tape. So yes, they are trying to fuck with them. Plus, Visa could have handled the chargeback issue in a much better manner all along if it really was their chief concern.

But yes, where's my $30, damnit!

Whats really funny is how they are actually encouraging everyone to make outragous console paths just to promote this.

The only thing I see this doing is making the issue of popup consoles much worse then it already was.
