a piece of business advice from someone who started with 12clicks a day

don't bitch when your check is a day or two late. Seriously, even if it isn't true, at least PRETEND you're not spending every single penny you make and can't survive if your payment doesn't come the exact day you expect it.
at least pretend your a business person!
One of the most important things you can do to be taken seriously is to act seriously.

How's about if you haven't got enough sales to get a cheque?

hateman 01-27-2008 06:21 PM

Boobs 01-27-2008 06:21 PM

when you've never mailed a check to someone but start determining what "on time" is, you're seen as a fool by those who have mailed checks.

tony286 01-27-2008 06:44 PM

I hate the mail. It's worth paying to get wires.

DateDoc 01-27-2008 06:45 PM

As a business, if you promise to mail checks on a certain day make sure it gets done. Don't PRETEND the checks were sent out when they were not. And PLEASE make sure there is enough money in the account to cover them.

I agree, it tells a bit about how does a person deal off the boards.

Well something that's not spoken about is that many actually DON'T have a life off the boards, so they probably feel this as a natural way of expression.

I had a chance to experience in person an "adult webmaster" who lives in his wild cyberworld and it seriously scared me off, the guy was serioiusly not capable of an offline interaction - a very pathetic scenery that gave me a whole different view on many things that happen on the boards..

:2 cents:

WiredGuy 01-27-2008 06:50 PM

I don't cash my checks until the day before they expire just to make sure it seems we have no cash flow problems. LOL

I'm sure you're just trying out your bigboy voice so I'll go easy on you.
#1 legitimate programs don't pretend to send checks. If you are using such programs, you deserve what you get and should still not embarrass yourself by asking publicly where your check from adultProgamHereToday&GoneTomorrow.com is.
#2 legit programs can always cover their expenses. re-read #1

My post was not directed towards you but was merely some advice to people who run a business. There have been a number of "BIG" companies that have bounced checks. Sure mistakes can happen but bouncing a check to someone for services rendered has to be about the worst thing, short of not paying them at all, that you can do business wise.

I've received a couple bounced checks over the years... it was never because of lack of money. It was always banking issues. Switching banks, changing accounts, etc.

Yes, getting a bounced check is a pain in the ass... but if the company takes care of it right away and it wasn't their fault to begin with, the only thing it says about said company is that they take care of business.

a much more accurate statement than the "make sure there is enough money in the account" statement.

You have a running log of every programs accounting? Because if not I think you are the one making assumptions.

son, I assure you, my assumptions are worth quite a bit more than ALL of your knowledge. :thumbsup

either choose to take my advice, or do what all of your predecessors who are no longer here did and scoff.

pocketkangaroo 01-27-2008 07:09 PM

I might be the luckiest fucker on this board, but I've yet to have a company bounce a check on me. Sure I've had a couple fly-by-night companies disappear without paying, but none that wrote a check that didn't go through. In fact, I haven't had one "big" company miss a payment to me yet either. Even had Adult Elite contact me directly when my checks were getting sent back to them because I had written the wrong address down.

I'll also add, if you're doing over 1k a period with a company, you should ask for a free wire transfer. I don't know of any company that won't do that for you.

Sly 01-27-2008 07:10 PM

I would like to add... if a company was really out of money, why would they send checks? Bouncing checks costs money, quite a bit of money. No sane company in their right mind would send out checks that they knew were going to bounce. Not only would they have to pay fees that they could incur from their bank, but they would also have to pay for fees that the affiliates incur at their banks. That's a lot of wasted money.

not to mention writing bad checks is a crime.

Your such a tool. My third largest paysite gets more traffic than your entire program. Stop acting like a big shot and get back to work.

Switching banks and changing accounts are not a bank issue. They are the account holder's issue. If they switch banks they should keep enough money in the old bank to cover outstanding checks. If they change the account they use there should be enough money in the old account to cover all outstanding checks written on it.

Let me add to "12 clicks" advice.

2. count dollars, not traffic.

Such sound advice.

On that note, an 18 wheeler mail truck crashed and burned on the I-10 on the way here the other day, and no mail was recovered. I am still wondering if any of my checks were in there too.

article link for those who care, it was heading to the south.

Wouldn't that scenario make one dumb ass complaint? Blaming a company when your check caught on fire on the way. It happens! :1orglaugh

Socks 01-27-2008 07:24 PM

While we're on the subject of checks, what do you guys use to print and mail your checks? Some sort of software, or an accounting program? Curious..

I recently got a signed blank check from a sponsor.. thanks! ;)

Even if I was lying, it still doesnt change the fact you act like your some hot shit, yet you get less traffic than a small tgp. And thats your entire network. Stop acting like a big asshole and you might get some affiliates who actually have traffic.

In the last 3 months, I've had checks from Gamma Cash and Sweet Money bounce as far as I remember.. We get them from time to time.. I don't mind the small aggravation, it happens, people make mistakes, I never bitch and complain..

Gamma was nice enough to send us a warning message saying a bad check was perhaps on its way too.
