i can't believe, in this day and age, someone would make such a bold statement. especially during a reelection year. next he will be saying that pets don't belong in the household and owners must remove them or they will find themselves in a federal jail.

actually, if you watch the news, what he was referring to was the states where the a big majority of the population (60 to 70%) are against same sex marraige, and then democracy is overturned when a couple of judges decide to overrule what the people of the state actually want and instead rewrite the laws themselves.

Actually, my own views aside.....the "normal" poplulation DON'T think that same sex marriages should be legal....the count last year was about 65% of Americans are against it. Should a couple of judges make the rules or should there be a democracy?

a government should reward families. Children who have a mom and dad in the home succeed far more often than those who don't. Smart people like to see the people of our country succeed and we don't mind giving a reward to families who help their children succeed.

Trust me, I've lived all over the US and outside of it. You get a skewed view when you live in the big coastal cities. The vast majority of the US is NOT as liberal as NYC, Miami, San Fran and L.A. This is not "Bible Belt" we are talking about here, Americans as a majority don't have a problem with gay "civil unions" or some other such thing, but they DO have a problem with gay marriage.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that new york is the way everybody thinks because you will spend a lot of time being confused.

The entire country was polled. An overwhelming majority of people said they do NOT want gay marriages. These people vote.

The judges, on the other hand, are ignoring what the voters are saying and are simply writing laws as if they were Kings.
Well, we crossed an ocean to get away from Kings and their ilk. We don't need more guys in long robes thinking all they're missing is the crown.

Don't hate Bush for stating what the people vote for; instead convince the people to change their mind.

that i would probably agree with you on. the state of the economy alone should reflect popular votes. this country hasnt been in this type of economic state since his father (who i voted for). and if memory serves me correctly, there hasnt been a wartime president who has been reelected for a second term (again, i am going on sheer memory).
