Hungryman: Take it down.

You will take down that PaysiteDesign.com site ASAP or pay me for the site.

(and you may be answering to those sites in your so-called 'portfolio' soon as well.)

chodadog 11-25-2002 01:31 AM

Who would use a designer who didn't even design their own site?

It is highly un-ethical to broker jobs without telling the client.:2 cents:

CDSmith 11-25-2002 01:46 AM

Newsflash: lots of guys run design companies. They have qualified designers on "staff" that they farm out work to. As long as the work is up to par, who care's who designed it?

Not when people pass it on like *they* designed it.

I can understand outsourcing design work, but shouldn't the designer's site and the designer's portfolio be a representation of the their work and not somebody else's? Seems silly to me. I know i wouldn't use a designer that doesn't even do his own site.

Interesting thread,

yeh I can't even draw a smiley face :), but our team of 9 designers does rock and roll!!!

Any top design company is judged usually by there work, customer service, and of course that nice big portfolio:)

Hey, as long as the client is happy, the designer has been paid, then I don't see the harm of doing business that way. As long as all parties are happy there should be no argument at all about this. If I take on your project, and I find that I am too busy to make the deadline, as long as the design is done to your satisfaction you shouldn't care how it got done or by whom. In that sense, the designer is paid for his/her work, and that work becomes part of the companie's portfolio. The company, henceforth known as "the broker" or design rep, can claim they can produce any level of work from within their portfolio, out-sourced or not. It's done all the fucking time people.

I'm not saying I do business that way, because I don't. But I can understand it. But again, my way is to make sure the work get's done and make sure all parties are paid and/or satisfied. clear?

I think its really fucking lame when people use *other* peoples work and use that to get credit among peers for creativity, when its not them.

And then in the end HUngryman gets paid for the job, yet as we see the *real* designers are not getting paid.

I dont think its cool at all.

When I buy an object, go ahead and broker it. When I pay for a service, one thing I am doing is getting a feel for the guy who is doing the work and seeing if we "see" the same thing and have an understanding of the subjective thing he will be creating. When it gets brokered it is FUCKED.

CDSmith 11-25-2002 03:09 AM

Seems like you're not reading me right.

Maybe the bottom line is... if you want 100% credit for all of your original work, then don't take on these 3rd party outsourced jobs from other companies.

MY stance on being paid remains in line with anything you guys have said here. The designer should be paid. period.

Amp - no one here could or would deny that your work is some of the hottest shit on the net now, and at the rate youre going youll stay at the front of the pack.

To think that you arent being paid for that work, is an insult to any artist out there.

this reminds me of a rapper named Skillz formally know as Mad Skillz. he supposedly ghostwrote a bunch of songs for famous rappers like mase, puffy, foxy brown and got dicked over on the money and he made a song called ghostwriter and edited out all the names and at the end he said "yall keep fucking around im gonna put this back out with your names in it"
