Based on the comments above we're doomed.

You adult webmasters should be behind this and not mocking it.

If only stopping Tubes was as easy as installing a program.

thats nice how they call all other producers/companies scum bags, who were the 100 scumbags that attended I'd like to know!.

Face it no one will ever be able to do anything about free porn. The gov looks at it this way, we can't tax it, so why waste state and gov dollars fighting it. Let them fight against themselves.

I think a cut and dry solution to the problem is to enforce a law that only allows 30 sec clips on tube sites. This can be regulated by hosting companies. You can still show the scenes and promote the programs. But I do have to admit, I like my free tubes especially when the hot ass bitch above me starts fucking, I really gotta pull it out and start yanking but can't do it without the help of tube8.com

hahahahahahahahaha

I was there. Nothing came of it.

We can only hope that maybe NOW the companies understand better the importance of trying to curb this problem. Though, it may be too late.

I find it funny that " adapt or die " only seems to be a must for webmasters and affiliates but not for the tubes.

I guess some dont realize that its the same for the tubes. You go after them and they " adapt or die " as well

So then you are willing to have your hosting tab double or quadruple to pay for this monitoring? Just like the government, that 'monitoring' costs money in extra man hours. A host is not going to eat that cost.

So if you want them to do it, something beyond their purview as they are not law enforcement, then you will have to pay them like you would pay any other capitalistic business. Something I doubt that most in this thread would be willing to do... pay quadruple the hosting costs for this 'service'.

In the unlikely event of us, the industry, being able to stop piracy some Tubes will adapt. They will show legal content and still buyers will not return to buying. Piracy on Tubes isn't the problem, full length or scenes over 10 minutes are the problem. Legal or not.

If hosting cost more, there would be less people able to put up free sites. Not less surfers, just less free sites.

What would be the price point that showing a free 20 minute 1,000s of times to get a sale becomes unprofitable. 10, 20, 30 cents a GB?

This is not even close to being the same thing.

"Adapt or die" works assuming that new legal business trends change the shape of the industry or the market.

Owners of Tube sites that show illegal content are thieves, not business people. "Adapting" to them does nothing but hurt your own bottom line and the bottom line of everyone else in this business.

In my opinion, that's precisely why the government would want to get involved. When you think about the size of the industry that is being affected, that's a whole lot of taxable income that is drying up.

While the government seizes mainstream movie sites like freemovies.net (at least it was something like that - they kept changing the name and moving it around) that didn't host anything but merely linked to places like megaupload you have to wonder where exactly the distinction is being made.

I think it is safe to assume that the major reason the industry hasn't gotten government support is politics. During election years the candidates are always throwing around who voted for what - can you imagine the ads that would run for a representative in favor of protecting the adult industry? It would be career suicide.

Until that time, it's up to the industry to do it's best to police itself and innovate change and I applaud the forward thinking efforts of anyone and everyone that is trying to curtail this industry scourge.

I couldn't have been happier with the results of the event and the momentum going on with anti-piracy efforts. Not everything will be public or visible immediately, but there is a lot in the works.

Both content owners and site operators need to really get informed. This is not a simple matter that can be learned through reading board posts, but once the knowledge is obtained empowerment starts and every content owner at the event now has that empowerment going forward and we're confident in the results each will be achieving individually and jointly.
