:mad The house REAKS!

woke up about an hour ago and my house still reaks from last night.....

about midnight we (Baby, Mrs. Loki and I ) were all in the back bedroom, we heard a noise of our youngest dog (about 8 months now) going just fucking nuts outside,

We both run outside, and WHAM the second the door is open we were hit with the most foul stench, (Skunk Spray) and the little dog was just shaking her ass off (she's a chihuahua / shitzu so shaking is not uncommon lol)

I took the dog into the garage, checked her out, and she was fine, she did NOT get sprayed herself, but the entire area of the front porch was just pure hell.

This all took about 10 mins or so, and then both me and Mrs. Loki looked at each other and yelled THE FANS.....

Ran back into the house and the entire fucking house smells like skunk thanks to the fans blowing IN cool air from outside

Spend a few hours spraying shit, incense, vinegar, etc then went to bed (even my fucking pillows smelled like skunk lol)

Woke up, and the house still stinks

not as bad as last night, but still not a pleasant smell

you are lucky to not know the smell lol, BUT it's a mix of Sulfur , rotten eggs, burnt plastic and burnt rubber all rolled into one foul fucking scent, that gets right into your nose and throat and you can almost taste the funk

Wash everything off with Tomatoe juice or a mixture of Tomatoe juice and water. It will help kill the smell. But, it is nearly impossible to get rid of it totally. They are fucking rancid smelling. I know ... I grew up on a Michigan farm and was well blessed with the problems of Skunks for decades.

more carpet then exposed wood which is a good and bad thing lol

as of now (3:15pm EST) the smell has dissipated from all but the hallway and foyer I've moved the fans to there to help get it the fuck out of here.

also have been burning incense since it happened, so that's at least a trade off in odors I guess.

you think it's dissipated, leave for a few hours and come back, you're just getting use to it.
We have skunks around here, dog knows to stay away from them. We don't get them on the property, no way for them to get in

See them as road kill all the time

More than likely. When I was a young lad my buddy and I got sprayed while messing with a skunk. Neither of us noticed, but our girlfriends sure could when we came into the house.

Sounds like you got off easy.

A friend of mine told me a story of a night he let his dog out. He ran immediatly out the door which isnt the most common... not in that manner or that late. Anyway the dog comes running back yelping.

SPrayed!

So my friend is trying to get his dog to get him the garage or outside. The dog is puking everywhere from the odor. So my friend is laughing and gagging. He gets his dig in the garage and then starts puking himself. So theres him and his dog locked up in his garage puking and stinking.

Sounds pretty hilarious to me Just glad it wasnt me.

It will take a little while to go away.

Our dog got sprayed one night ... the following night I had to go to the hospital and since I could not stand up straight and was alone, I could not drive ... nor could I wait for someone to come get me. I called an ambulance and walked out and stood the best I could on the porch to wait for them. They asked why I did that when they could bring a stretcher in and my answer was "the house smells like skunk an I am embarrassed by it."

hydrogen peroxide works better than tomato juice.
Wipe down areas affected by the smell

We used the tomatoe juice mix when our Yellow lab go sprayed. I hope I never have another opportunity to find out if hydrogen peroxide works better, but nice suggestion.

It's raining

But thankfully my office is skunk smell free, and has been closed off since before the skunk shit happened

and I've blocked off the doorway so nothing can get in (or out )
