Obviously you are very rich, so I am sure you know this, but you can charter a jet to Europe for $50k.

Point me to it, last time I did this it was 103K as the stand by time kills you as they cannot loan it out while they wait to take you back. And most of the time they want to re-fuel in Greenland on the way... faster to go in Lufthansa.

no offense man 17k on tickets for a 9hr flight seems like a waste of money to me..

most i've ever paid was 5k total and it was from panama>jersey>london>dubai>new jersey>panama..

and it was all business class, but first class from the londo>dubai>london route...

i cant consciously spend more than 5k on a ticket.. i usually dont mind paying about 300-500 max per hour of flight for first class

so doing your math, a 10hr flight should be 5k max..

There are a ton of empties on the ground, you can set it up through a ton of companies.

A friend of mine works at a company with 6 jets for execs - they charter them when they are idle and they get $50k for a Scottsdale - Frankfurt run.

Also this story would be way better if the end is that you buy the whole airline.

LOL, Who the hell wants to own an airline now a days? they have male flight attendants now ;-)

And thanks I will check out the sitting idle planes, any names of the charter companies you are talking about?
I checked a few and they all quoted in the 100K range.

Thx ...

The company I'm talking about rents through a company called Ellejet, I believe, and through a local company that I don't know the name of and am too lazy to find out, but it's next door to an awesome Italian restaurant at the Scottsdale airport.

I think depends on where you are tho - in Miami you are gonna have a shitload of stuff on the ground, because it's more international.

They charge you up the ass for the plane sitting. My friend is a Pilot for a Jet Company, he tells me some crazy stories. He also said our Company should buy one and give it to them to charter it out, but sounds too much of a liability to me.

We all judge others based on the way they dress, the way they act, the way they look, the way they present ourselves. If we pretend that we don't, we are simply lying to ourselves.

You can do your best to treat people the same. But everyone judges.

SmokeyTheBear 03-11-2010 12:56 PM

i had a confusing encounter years ago somewhat related. I got the "deliveries go in the back" line but completely missed the correlation. I was buying a jetski and i was carrying a box i just bought. When i walked in the guy said "deliveries go out back" , i said "what" , he repeats himself , i say " what deliveries ? " , he says " they all go in back" , i say " what do ? " he says "deliveries" i am totally confused at this point.. so i go out back and ask "Can i look at your jetski's ? " he says " you gotta go up to the front the back is for deliveries only" , it was about then i caught on.

oh and years ago in l.a. i bumped a nun and said " sorry sister" and she said "fuck you asshole" so i kinda did it in reverse.

Walking in to get a job is totally different. I never judge an interview by the way the guy is dressed. Actually, when I see a guy interviewing with a suit on in this business, it actually shocks me and I tell them they are overdressed. The average guy looking for a job won't come in with shorts. But the average guy will go buy a car in shorts.

I agree with you that those are two different circumstances and one should not have to dress up to buy something, that just seems silly, but my point was that people indeed DO judge people based on appearances. We all dress up for interviews BECAUSE of this universal truth--whether it be a suit or not is merely a judgment call.

As some people here know Nylos is a close friend of mine and one day he wanted to buy a Jaguar so we went to the Jaguar dealer looking all casual to look at some models and we were in BUYERS MINDSET. We were all over one nice model and the salesperson didn't even come up to as until we started asking him questions about the car. He answered a few questions and than he said "yeah, everybody gotta have something to dream about".
Nylos and i looked at each other like WTF and we headed outside jumped in Nylos's Hummer and took off driving by the showroom window, the look of the salesperson's face was priceless. We ended up buying a Jaguar from another dealer.:thumbsup

I was a salesperson myself for many many years and i learned that judging people buy their looks is just plain stupid.. body language tells you about everything you need to know.

What is Nylos?

You people act like you're proud to dress like complete tools when you have money.

That's the first thing I will do when I make my first 100k cheque, wear cheap jeans, white runners, cheap t-shirt, get fat, buy an expensive watch.

Goto a webmaster show and it's:

Ill fitting suits
Tap out shirts
Affliction
Ed Hardy(2004 called and wants their shirts back)
White runners with $10 wal-mart jeans

Why would I expect this to be any different...

Huggles 03-11-2010 01:59 PM

Oh, and if you didn't judge people by the way they were dressed, you wouldn't know when to avoid homeless people, gang bangers, when to trust cops, firefighters, etc.

If you think you're someone being sly by wearing shitty clothes to a nice car dealership, you're just being a FUCKING RETARD by not admitting that clothing is one of the most obvious signs of class.

I'm also not going to think I'm being clever or putting one-up on someone because they declined me good service going in somewhere dressed under par for the course.

Oh look, I dressed up like a vagrant and didn't get the nicest table at the restaurant, next week I'll go back in a suit and tip the next waiter much better just to show the first one what a fool he was!

^ Yeah, that's not clever guys.

superfical much ?

I have more "Class" than 1/2 the douchebags that dress like they make more than me when in actualtly all they are trying to do is look rich, and they make a fraction of what i do, and they spend all of their money on their clothes, watches, shoes, and cars... trying to be something they are not, and they still don't have any class. There is a time and place to dress up, and then there is the rest of the time. I am fine with jeans and polo shirt, tennis shoes, unless i am going to a business related function, nice dinner, or formal event, then the nice clothes comes out and I take the hat off.

I laugh at the douche bags who dress nice 24/7 when I know they don't have a pot to piss in. I would rather be rich, not try to look rich.

You can't buy class.

Being a douchebag is following a trend, dressing like an average slob when you have money is just as bad.

If you have money to get your own style, be in shape, look good, why not?

Otherwise you are just a non-famous version of this:

In Vancouver, 99% of all complete tools wear Ed Hardy, Affliction, or Tap Out.

Which reminds me, anyone know of any HIGH-QUALITY clothing manufacturers? I want to get a couple shirts custom made for myself.

car salesmen should ask "do you work online?" before brushing someone off :)

no, seriously, us online people don't dress the nicest since we're usually working by ourselves, but we certainly have more money than any regular suit-wearing Joe

No one here is saying they dress like a slob, just that they dress like an average person most of the time. If you dress up to go to a dealer to buy a car you are a douche.

Here is one for you, the last time I owned a watch was probably 10 years ago, and it was at most a couple hundred dollar watch. When it broke, I used my cell to tell me what time it is. I could give a shit, I don't need a watch. I don't need to buy one to impress people or pass some standard of fashion test. I don't blow money on clothes, at most I spend $500 on a decent suit. Why, because I hardly ever wear them. When I need to look nice, I will blend in, I don't need to be the guy in the room who makes 50K a year but owns 3K suits. I don't know who is popular these days and could give a shit. The last "trend" I knew about was in high school when GUESS and GIRBAUD jeans were popular. I don't need a 20K Rolex or 100K Car to tell me or anyone else I am rich, and NONE of this has to do with class.

To be honest I see people with expensive shit, and unless I know they are worth 10's of millions I laugh at them. That money could have been spent in so many better ways to make them more money. Even the people worth a couple million, who blows 100K's of shit, they are just ghetto rich, and in 10 years will likely be broke.
