Leave it to banks.

Cause a sideline story about how those who pay off cards and or never carry a balance very well may see some new charges to make up for money lost to not being able to fuck people on interest rates.

Many are talking about adding in yearly fee's, or how it plainlyy looks a yearly penalty if you pay off your card each month.

Could not find my local story but did find another news site with info (not sure if it mentions all of the banks beyond B of A)

Don't they call people who pay off their bill every month 'deadbeats'?

There are a bunch of them that already have an annual fee just to have the card. It seems kind of sleazy to me that they charge you just for the right to carry their card.

I think a lot of people have become accustomed to thinking that credit is some kind of privilege and that it should be given out for free or very cheap.
If you want to borrow someone elses money, I don't see why it should be free, near free, or cheap.

I don't mind paying my annual fee to amex. The rewards and other benefits are well worth it.

I've heard some rumors of really bad things to come. I have a friend that works for a big bank and said some crazy things are on the horizon...

Instead of late fees per month, it would be per day and up to $6 (of course with a limit per month)

Fee to customers who have no activity on their cards per month - i had an old PNC bank card that did this years ago when I was in college.

As well, banks pushing to have the payment "posted" on or before the due date. Meaning, if you pay your credit card on your due date, it would be late as it may take up to 72 hours to post. I got a letter from BofA a little while back saying that they can charge late fees if payments are not made to the account before the due date.

Ive already seen a late fee posted to my account last month. My due date is the 20th and I made a payment on the 19th and on the 20th was still "pending" then saw the late fee. I had to call back to get it removed.

Also, the payments needed to be made before the end of the BUSINESS day for the bank.

All this shit is absurd and banks just robbing anyone they can. IMO its already fucked up that you need to be in debt to get "credit" since credit drives our economy.

Wow that's funny because I made a large purchase on my CC and it actually impacted my credit negatively.

Amex closed my card for a lack of use, and said I could not repeal it. Well, sorry, guys, your shitty card only works for foofoo shit, I live in the real world - and I didn't like your RFID so I tore it out.

I got rid of all of my credit cards years and years ago...except for one which I use for online purchases. When I was paying off all of the credit cards I paid them all off in one payment and told them to cancel the card. One of them...and I do not now remember which one...sent me a bill the following month for interest charges. I called them and asked how I could owe interest since I had paid the card in full and told them to cancel the card. They answered that I had paid the card off in one payment and that was not allowed...and that the card had to be paid off in a minimum of three payments...not one.

I told them that was ridiculous and that they could expect the additional interest payment when hell freezes over and to the best of my knowledge hell has not yet froze over.

Same here.
The base portions of your score on the percentage of available credit. At the wrong time of the month, and have a large charge on your card. You will fuck your score for a bit. Even if you pay it right off.

As for monitoring your score - stick with Experian only unless the others are tossed in free. The other big 2 use their own formats for what they call your Fico or credit score. Also the majority of those that do check, check Experian

My bank has no plans on this BS.The few cards I do have I am not about to cancel. No way I will wreck my score over it. Just will have to make a few adjustments and let them ht me a few times,

Cash is King.

If you can't afford it with cash, you don't need it and can't afford it.

If you have to ask "How Much?", you can't afford it.

bank & cc's are a necessary evil.
also most cc's that have rewards or miles charge an annual fee + have higher interest rate.

It's because for years now the banks have targeted irresponsible users on purpose. They don't really want people to pay of their cards on time, because they make more profit off people that pay late.

I use cash or debit. I do not live on credit and I do only buy things for myself that I can afford. That still does not make your thread very idiotic.

If you have or in my cash want to ask how much, you are just checking the fucking price. However glad to see you live in some fake land of movie lines. Perhaps I do not want to overpay, even with my cash?

For just about everyone on the planet for many years, if you ever wanted to own a home. You would get a loan. People did not buy those with cash. Want to dance around that topic?

You also know that for a long time before credit cards were common, people like our grandparents would use collateral and get loans. Was the number 1 reason for the existence of pawn shops.

Then of course there are times where you just absolutely need a credit card to be able to do it. Like rent a damn car. We will not go into how many businesses use lines of credit to even act as a business. I have credit cards to build up my credit score. I typically only use them once every 6 months or however often is needed for them to report to the credit agencies and keep or build my score up.

We all know that part, hell the admitted that they make more off of bad users. This is an effort for them to punish good users who do play by the rules and pay their bills. They need to test out new ways to get even more money because they are loosing the ability to randomly change peoples APR and have a few other new rules that make it more difficult for them to prey on the guy who is a little not so careful with his bills.
