Ubuntu Studio 9.04

What are your experiences with this release, good, bad or indifferent?

It sure does, and the fact that it's designed for multimedia developers is just what I've been waiting for...

It has potential, but the applications still need a lot of work... Kino is not really comparable to even the most basic windows video editors I'm forced to use Cinelerra even though it's unstable and buggy as hell, but at least I can get the job done.

Other apps like GIMP of course have been pro quality for years. Someone just has to put that level of effort into the video side.

I agree, these are all terrific steps in the right direction = a viable option to Win/Mac.

I am planning on dl'ing and installing on a scap pc. We use the hell out of vegas, so I wonder what the performance is on linux, if it's faster or not? Mind you, I know NOTHING about any linux video editing software.

That'll be interesting to track for sure. Ideally, I'm going for the stripped-down hot rod with no bells and whistles, just raw performance. Just finished my download, I'll be experimenting over here on a spare as well...
