Rear Projection TV's....
I have a 65" rear-projection TV that needs a new bulb. I just had a new bulb put it in 2 years ago. Is 2 years about all you can expect from those bulbs???

I had a rear projection TV for years - six years. The computer chip died in it before the bulbs did.
I have a new flat screen now. Much better.

The TV is only 2 years old. I'm not gonna trash it for a flat-screen just yet
![]() I just figured I'd get more then 2 years of service out of that bulb. I don't watch that much TV. Makes me think it might not be the blub after all. The repair guy will be here in the morning so I'll find out soon enough. Weird shit..... |

the "repair guy" is probably giving you used bulbs, or something else is shorting them. get an LCD.

I bought the TV 2 years ago. 2 days after it was installed, the blub blew. The repair guy said that that model TV had bad bulbs when they were shipped overseas so he replaced it with a new one. So the TV is 2 years old and the bulb is as well. |

Then yes, expect to replace that bulb every two years. The standard life of these bulbs is around 1000 - 2000 hours depending on the setting you are using.

This is a common problem with certain Toshiba DLP's. My brother is having the same problem.
There was talk of a redesigned bulb at one point that might get you a little more life out of it. My brother is thinking of ditching his for an LCD. Search google, there is plenty of threads about it: http://www.audioholics.com/news/edit...-lamp-problems I have a Samsung 71 inch DLP and I am still on my original bulb after a few years. |

Mine blew after around two years as well but it really depends on the time used. I believe mine was 2500 hours or something like that.

I have a 52" DLP and the bulbs last about 2 years with moderate use. I get bulbs from http://lamps-dlp.com/ - quick shipping and good price.
