That is probably true, although it is a bit hypocritical, considering the primitive belief system that the Taliban are trying to spread is the same exact legal system they use in Saudi Arabia, and we continue to embrace the Saudis like it is totally fine for women to be treated like dogs.

In general, the American left greatly undermined US national security --in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere. Both wars might have been won by now if we hadn't had all of the infighting, which sapped our strength and emboldened the enemy.

Add to the mess the fact that Afghanistan is mountainous and its forbidding geography has defeated foreign invaders for centuries. You can also thank Iran which has had a negative effect in Iraq and generally in the Middle East. It appears Israel has finally had enough and is ready to end the threats.

I am not a Taliban sympathizer, I don´t like them in fact. But who I am to say which cultures to destroy and which don´t? Are they repressive? Sure, that region has had repressive leaders almost its whole history. Do they control others through an ignorant belief system?? Wow! Our religions and cheap entreteinment is not the opium that our societies are getting to keep the fucking brain frozen? How is possible that people is worried about what a group of uncivilized retarded people are doing in Afganistan when there are huge countries-killer machines murdering such amount of people like those who dies in Irak? It's not that easy. The Taliban's main power source is the ethnic Pashtun areas of Afghanistan. People join the Taliban because of cultural and ethnic reasons in addition to religious and tactical/military reasons. Afghanistan, due to colonial boundaries, is a hodgepodge of rival ethnicities and Muslim sects/denominations. It is not that easy to militarily destroy a force with deep cultural connections to the region. I'm not saying it's impossible--it just defies simplistic solutions.

i agree with you. the government always works best in response to a crisis as opposed to pre-emption. exactly like iraq, someone can fuck up & there was no need to do it.
