boy did i fuck up. right now im on the second day of a 7 day cruise with family. my dad invited the daughter of one of his friends on the cruise because he wanted to try to set us up. right from the start we started getting along, since i got in around noon, we wouk together, she would look at me a lot, touch me, etc. then after dinner last night she wanted to have a cigarette, so we went out on the deck.

she was smoking, we were kind of huddled behind a locker to protect from the wind, her face was like a foot away from mind, and all of the sudden, i dont know why, but i just moved my head closer to try to kiss her, and she turned her head so i just got her cheek.

after that it was all different, we walked back to where everyone else was and the vibe was weird. they were at a show, then she said she didnt feel like watching it and wanted to go get coffee, and suggested that if i wanted to continue to see the show i should stay. so i asked, so you want me to stay, and she kind of nodded and got up to leave

now im stuck for the next 6 days and im afraid its going to be weird. it was going great before and now i think im fucked. man, i wish i would have taken more time.

so at this point is it a lost cause? should i apoligize or dont say anything? anything i can salvage here?

You read wrong. It's no big deal.

Own up to your mistake (to yourself) and forget about it. The more you act as if you are embarrassed that she rejected you, the more weird things will get.

And what was up with you asking her if she wanted you to stay? At that moment you should have got up, played it off and had a nice cup of coffee. That would have cleared the air or at least given you more of an idea about her intentions. Maybe she wanted to find out where the rest of the family was so that you and her could definitely have some uninterrupted time together.

I'm no Casanova by any means but here's what I'd say happened and what you should do. However much it may have seemed like things are going well, it can be hard to separate friendliness and flirtatiousness, and you were on night 1 of a 7 day cruise - I think you went for it too early is all - early enough to the point where you probably didn't have enough to go off of to determine if she was interested or not, and she may have not had enough interaction with you to BE interested. Not every chick will get cockhungry for a guy on night 1 of knowing them.

That said, all you can do is say "oh well" and move on. From the point of "and suggested that if i wanted to continue to see the show i should stay" you should have assumed that she was telling you to back off at least for the night and not have outright asked what you did...given there's plenty of time left you MAY have had a chance but when you force her to come outright with the rejection (her nod answer to your question), you can't pull a Costanza and pretend the next day like everything's fine and nothing happened, and no one takes cruises for drama so it's not like you can expect to talk things out with her and have a chance.
