![]() We all know that exclusive content sites like OxCash sites - convert really well. Especially on TGP traffic you can have amazing conversions.
But in my experience, the conversion from trial to full month is pretty bad. I never got over 25% conversion from Trial to Full Month with Bangbus and sites like that. Some sponsors are paying $35-$40 per trial on exclusive content sites - i.e.: NastyDollars, ARS and QuickBucks. How can they manage to pay that much if they don't get at least 40% conversion from trials to full month. How can they afford to pay that much commision to the webmasters? And why do I have such shit retention? 1. because TGP traffic doesn't like to pay too much for porn 2. because they can download all the content overnight 3. because the price is too high for what it's worth!?! 4. because you sell more then retain less. I'm just trying to figure out if it's really worth it to promote those sites. Yes you get more signup, but the retention sucks - so... do we really make more money? Or I am the only one who has these problems... ? |

I think trials suck, and so do high membership costs.
Charge the surfer like $20 a month with no trial. To answer your question I think sponsors can pay the webmaster on trials for many reasons. - Often times a surfer will bookmark a site and join later. Maybe days later and the webmaster often won't get this sale credited to them. - Some sponsors track sales with just cookies, and we all know at least 30% surf with those disabled. - Sponsors sometimes use exit consoles to their advantage and not the webmaster. - Sponsors collect e-mails on their tour. - Upsells in the members area. - SHAVING, if the above isn't enough.

There is also some other things that I am concern with... Like - one sponsor that I use offer a customer support website to "facilitate" unsubscriptions and to help their customers with common problems such as browser compatibilities, etc. It's pretty common these days! But, I took a membership to one of their sites the other day and I went thru their system to cancel my trial subsciption. Their system then told me that my request was succesfully processed and I won't be billed again. I then went to their processor to verify if my subscription was, in fact, cancelled. I wasn't surprised to see that my subscription was still ACTIVE and not cancelled. So I told myself "I'll check back later, maybe they are batching stuff". So I went the following day and my subscription was still ACTIVE. I then went back to their Customer Service site and I unsubscribed AGAIN. I then returned to their processor to check things - and my membership was still ACTIVE. So, I then sent an email to the Customer Service of the site in question to let them know what happened. They obviously - didn't get back to me. So I waited a couple days - my membership renewed to a full month membership like I was expecting and I then cancelled my membership thru the Payment Processor page without problems. I repeated the same experience 3 times at 2 weeks intervals - and still... they SAME THING HAPPENED. I totaly agree that we can make it "more difficult" to unsubcribe - but this is maybe too much. This might be why this sponsor can pay big commision on trial membership of their exclusive content sites. What do you think? |

Don't use a trial on a site with exclusive content.
And if u use it make sure u got a shitload of none exclusive content to keep them busy.. With a download manager and a good connection you can download all content from a site like the bangbus in one day |

Let's do some maths : A webmaster sends 100 Trial Signup 100 x $4.95 + (15% P. Fees) = $420 25% (25 members) converts to a Full Month 25 x $39.95 + (15% P. Fees) = $850 -------------------------------------------- First Month Total Income = $1,270 Webmaster Payout = $(3,500) Sponsor's Profit = $(2,230) -------------------------------------------- So, with the remaining 25 members, he needs to generate at least $2,230 to break even. So let's say that the site isn't too bad and there is a loss of 30% per month 2nd Month 18 Renewals x $39.95 = (15% P. Fees) = $612 3rd Month 13 Renewals x $39.95 = (15% P. Fees) = $442 4th Month 9 Renewals x $39.95 = (15% P. Fees) = $306 5th Month 6 Renewals x $39.95 = (15% P. Fees) = $204 6th Month 4 Renewals x $39.95 = (15% P. Fees) = $136 Rest... Approx = $100 Let's say because of the exit and upsells - the sponsor generated $5 for each Trial that the webmasters sent 100 x $5 = $500 ------------------------------------------------- Total Income (after 6 months) of = $3, 570 Webmaster Payout = $(3,500) Profit = $70 ------------------------------------------------- Everyone knows that a sponsors has to support a payroll, offices and pay a lot for servers and bandwidth expenses - because most of them offer big Movie Trailers on their tour. So if they are converting at %25 - %35 from the trial to the full month membership - it seems to me that it's not "that much" interresting for them. |

If only 25% of trials convert to full membership, you are doing something wrong.

I have no control on retention, the sponsor does. And it's not 1 bad experience. All sponsors that I tried (OxCash, CollegeFuckFest, BoyGirlBang, ChickTrick, JoinRightNow... etc) I experienced the same problems. And some of them are using their processors affiliate software - so they can't shave with that. |

X582, in your original post you were talking about how sponsors can pay $35-$45 per trial. In these kind of programs you don't have to worry about retention. In partnership programs that's a different story.
FYI all our paysites do better than 40% |

Jesus Christ did you ever take a look in most of their members area's. They don't offer shit to the customer. I know three or 4 of the "themed sites" that don't have any plugins inside. They offer the 30-50 scenes of their "Themed Content" and that's it. Very hard to keep a customer when they can blow through your site in 60 minutes.
Now most will give you access to the rest of their sites which is another joke, because it the same type of content hashed up. It's funny how people pay such big money make to buy a design that converts and then leave the members area bare. |
