Who LOVES Eggs Benedict?
But hates to try cooking the eggs???
Well I found the solution about a month ago on a clearance table and it's the perfect Microwave Poached Egg cooker ![]() A teaspoon of water in each side, add egg to each side, break yolk & microwave for One Minute! Toast a muffin, grill a couple slices of Canadian bacon(or any type ham), whip up a little Hollandaise and "BAM"... Perfect Eggs Benedict! ![]() Just posted this in another thread but since it's lunch time I thought I'd just put this in my own thread. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

So let me see if I have this straight.
You can clarify butter without burning it and make Hollandaise that doesn't seperate, but poaching an egg is too difficult?

I adore eggs benedict!! I make them every year for Christmas breakfast. I could never cook the eggs in the microwave though. The yolks have to be runny and it looks like the microwave cooks them.
I will stick to the old tried and true method ;) ![]() |

![]() If you're lucky this is what an egg poached in boiling water will look like... ![]() Same goes with the hollandaise sauce - I hate to say it but they make it in a pack and it tastes almost as good as what you cook from scratch. ![]() ![]() Since we're on the subject I just came across this sweet gadget!! Egg Poacher & Muffin Toaster ![]() Modern American mornings can now start with the ease and convenience of the popular egg and muffin sandwich at home and at a fraction of the cost charged by drive-thru establishments… The Egg & Muffin Toaster delivers in about four minutes a convenient and tasty morning meal that’s both familiar and well liked. In addition to being a full-functioning toaster, the Egg & Muffin Toaster can simultaneously: 1) toast the bread, 2) cook an egg (poached or steam-scrambled), and 3) warm a pre-cooked slice of ham or sausage…or any combination of these three functions, in addition to boiling up to four eggs. It’s a pretty machine and is actually well thought out. The eggs are steamed, so it makes a very nice, consistent poached egg. All will finish at the same time, so it’s all nice and warm. Perfect for the McMuffin. The price tag is not bad - $49.99

And it's not too difficult to poach an egg - it takes 4 minutes, salt, vinegar and a slotted spoon. |

I love eggs benedict but certainly no point making them with packet Hollandaise.

The Hollandaise is definitely the hard part. That said, I think I'm going out to brunch for some eggs Benedict this weekend!

Powdered eggs don't taste almost as good as real, powdered mash potatoes don't really taste like potatoes and powdered Hollandaise fits in the same class. I'd personally rather have something simpler for breakfast than eat powdered Hollandaise.

![]() But once you add the milk, butter and a little lemon juice to that packet of Knorr well... the only way to compare is to go out and try it yourself. BTW I have owned a restaurant and I do know how to cook Eggs Benedict the old fashioned way. I was just trying to let people know that they can enjoy this tasty dish in less than 5 minutes. ![]() _

I like to steam my poached eggs... no radioactive chicken embryos, thanks!
As for the hollandaise argument... HUGE time saver for making packet. Now this is where the experience comes into play. His packet sauce COULD be as good as what hes had handmade...since a ton of people dont make it taste right or simply fail at making it properly. yolks - butter - lemon juice - salt - cayenne pepper - and sometimes a dash of some white wine... especially if used on fish! Not to be confused with bearnaise sauce... as for the poachings.... I like to stick with Honez' Method ![]() For teh record... I HATE EGGS BENEDICT!!!!!
