They are not citibank so no bail out but wouldn't a bankruptcy be handled like any other? Enter receivership and the receiver closes shit that does not make money or have value and sells the rest for what they can get. AFF as a money making enterprise has to have some value and i would say since it sold for 400 mil the value would be at minimum 40 mil. So why would they close it? Never been through a big bankruptcy so what am I am missing?

The won't likely close completely, but I think you can safely say that affiliates will be well down the list for getting paid.

Well, the legal filing that AFF did in order to file for an IPO indicates that they are in default on most of their debt already due to various issues. If they are unable to raise the cash needed, they might be forced to sell assetts in order to satisfy the debt.

Someone could buy them out, pay the debt and keep on trucking...or they could raise the money in the IPO, or they might get sold in bits and pieces and someone might take the brand and run with it...all sorts of things could happen.

The bottom line is they are in big trouble and counting on an IPO in the current economy to make things better is a long-shot strategy.

Have you seen any recent retention #'s on dating sites? I know mine used to be somewhere in the range of 65% of all members rolled into atleast their first rebill. the %'s are quite a bit higher than normal pay site models. Most dating sites can get by paying $50 with no worries, as long as their affiliate isn't pushing all crap tgp traffic.

I think most dating sites will continue to offer $35-50 no matter the xsales etc.

But i think dating sites offering $75-100pps (as a norm...not just a 1-day thing) are a little bit outta control....I can see cam sites offering that much, based on a deposit....but a dating site offering that is ludacris IMO.

So if you were talking about people offering 75-100 per sale on dating....you're right it is stupid

this will be interesting to see for sure.. in a chap 11 re org, its really up to the creditors and judge to determine what happens..

and financing must be in place to even go the 11 route..

from what i am reading, they cant get financing which is why they are trying for an ipo..

i am surprised that the ipo is even being allowed considering they are in default on some of their debt repayment..

The 50 dollar will be gone, your talking another economy, I work with more dating traffic and signups than most here can remotely imagine, I know the numbers the real numbers and I know the pain some programs are now going thru making those payouts as one large program asked me if they can defer some of the payouts a % of it.

The conversion ratios for dating will just keep getting worse as more and more people try it once, all those sites fling aff and the newer guys the surfers aint stupid no more and they speak using their credit card.

My advice to those people who care about making money is, do not lie to yourself, fix the stuff you do now dont wait till the last minute

If they went into bankruptcy the affiliates would be the first to get screwed. Just the fear of this will likely cause smart affiliates to stop promoting them now. This will in turn cause less income compounding the problem, which kind of leads to a self fulfilling crash.

The second people stop getting checks if AFF starts going under will cause the rest of the affiliates whom were still promoting them to pull links. Anything close to a bankruptcy will kill their income from affiliates.

IMHO anyone whom is stupid enough to still be promoting them after reading the info in their IPO is not a bright person.

Yes it's true that AFF likely will not close the doors entirely, it's likely someone will buy it out, but in that process the affiliates will get the shaft.

Even with all the fake accounts there I have been a member for a while and they do have some actual members that are real. That being said the amount of traffic that site gets and the prices they charge for accounts I highly doubt that site would close any time soon. Even if the affiliates aren't getting paid like they should be.
