I was raised mostly by my Dad, haven't lived with a man in 24 years and thankfully learned how to do 99% (100%?) for myself anything I'd need a man for

I think the first Christmas tree I did alone was when I was in my early 20's. The best was the one I got on sale that leaned a bit. I rigged it up with a hook and wire from the ceiling.

Electrical and cable type wiring sometimes throws me off but I've always managed to get it done. Car stuff too. Though if you want to pump up a bruised ego of a man, the best thing to do is act like they were the ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD who could have hung that picture the right way!!

DAMN PK you go girl!

When you are in the area again maybe you can come over to my apartment and fix a couple things around here.. hehehe

and way to go Julie, you rock! There's no way I woulda done all of that by myself, I have a little plastic tree I put up every year and thats about it

The stereotypical man's work I've done? GETTING A GIRLFRIEND TO DO ALL THE WORK FOR ME. She cooks, she cleans, and she let's me pimp her out on the internet. We've been together six+ years.

I like procuring bacon. She fries it up in a pan. Life is delicious.

OH yes.. and I can pick out a dress and heels to die for and look like a million bucks not to mention cook and sew.

At first this all started out of necessity, but then I felt liberated. The only reason why I post in here and write all this is that it is important for us women to liberate ourselves and embrace the "I can do it myself" attitude. Not to be difficult, but to be self sufficient and self reliant. For those that have kids or are planning on having kids, the best thing to be able to pass on to them is "You can do anything you set your mind to" but you have to lead by example first.

Keep up the good work ladies.
you are a Goddess my dear!

I will one up ya on the x-mas tree. I had to cut mine down one year with a fucking dull double sided axe, get it on top of my Denali (im only 5'2"..haha) and drive 115 miles home hoping it wouldnt fall off and kill someone. Got it home, then had to get it off the top of the truck and into the house. I then had to break out the hacksaw and proceed to trim that fucker up. My Dick just wanted to bitch about the pine needles and branches everywhere...WTF

Ive changed my own oil in my motorcycles and cars/trucks. Fix the plumbing on the sink and toilet on occasion.

The best thing I can do that is a mans job is FUCK MYSELF!

Well, there's a point where being raised by a man is detrimental. I bought a new floor lamp today and it took 20 minutes to put it together. I could have done it in 10 had I bothered to RTFM

Ive done the get my own christmas tree thing twice I just unfortunately suck at picking out a tree. I was really proud of the first one, I was 8 months pregnant and sawed the bottom to even it out and got into the stand. 2 hours later I had to use rope to attach it to the wall to keep it straight. My then husband fixed it the next day but not bad again considering I was as big as a house at the time.

Ive also done the whole hanging all the paintings and picture things but being I dont have the patience to really measure things out I had 3x the amount of nail holes in the wall than I did actual nails. My boyfriend heard the story and since we moved into our new place has hidden the drill from me.

Mostly though when I was a full time bartender I usually ended up carrying more cases and ice and moving more kegs than any of the guys. I hated to let things get too low and if a keg blew I never had the patience to wait for the guys. I have actually gotten applause from the bar because as soon as they would see me moving the keg the guys would start saying I would never be able to do being the keg weighed more than me. Oh and ladies if you dont know how to tap a keg learn, apparantly guys find that hot!

The first one when I was pregnant? No, I got so frustrated with it I tied a rope around the trunk and then nailed the other end of the rope to the wall. My ex husband fixed it the next day.

Except for the one time the tree was crooked (hey, it was free), I've never had an issue with getting it in the stand. Not exactly rocket surgery. If you have a tough time, get one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Emerald-Innova.../dp/B0008F78J8

I bought one 14 or so years ago but lost part of it in the move 8 years ago But it's the easiest way EVER to put up a tree IMHO.
