LADIES.....I Fucking Did It!!!!!!!

last week i went to the tree lot, picked out my xmas tree, tied it to the top of my 4runner, got it home in one piece, rolled that 7ft fucker over my shoulder somehow from the roof of the vehicle, got it up a flight of stairs and into my living room ALL BY MYSELF WITH NO HELP FROM A MAN!!! i dropped that tree on the floor, yelled "i fucking did it!!!" and proceeded to do the most badass touchdown dance you ever saw.

my next thought was "hey, i only need a man for my sexual pleasure now, no other reason"

what have you done that is stereotypically "a man's job"? share and empower us

ok boys, if you can't resist commentary, impress us with what you have done that is "women's work"

I washed the dishes once... it was a proud moment.

Then Beth told me I didn't do 'em right and rewashed them, then the moment was less proud.

That's kinda hot!

I get all excited when I fix small things in my house or hook up electronics all by myself.

Wahoo Julie!

I bought a new TV, got it home unpackaged and all hooked up to stereo, dvd and cable before the hubby even walked through the door.

I also changed a fuse in my car.. who knew? Cars have fuses? That instruction manual is the one that was actually helpful.

You GO girl!!!!

Let's see. I think one of my defining moments was flying across the country to help one of my girlfriends make a move from D.C. to Phoenix. The UHaul dudes were clueless so I had to get the auto transporter hooked up to the truck, get her car on it, strap it down, and then I drove that bad boy cross country through snow and extremely high winds (I fought the wheel so hard that my muscles cramped up in my shoulders) and delivered her safely to her new home.

Oh and I changed out the shocks on my car once many, many years ago.

Its like the first time I was able to use my lawnmower. I had to go to Home Depot to ask for directions on how to get it to run. It was a proud day when I could finally see my backyard again! Who knew they made lawnmowers that need to be plugged in?

i am the go-to-girl for all things tech in our home for whatever reason i didn't end up with a male tech-savy person here! although on the xmas tree front, we went out the day after thanksgiving (which i swore i wouldn't do) and we decorated it saturday. last night all presents went under the tree after a wrapping fest and we're good to go!

about the only thing i can think of that i do that's traditionally considered the man's job around here is taking out the full garbages and recycling to the bins for pick up, but i get in trouble when i do that. "that's the man's job!"

good job on your tree!!!

I unfortunately have had to get my own tree with my children for several years now. There is a farm by my house that we pick one from and a nice young man comes with a chain saw and cuts in down and ties it to the top of my car. It's not that fun, I am proud of you!

Enjoy the feeling Julie

I have also procured my own christmas tree sans help the last 3 years. Only difference is, I have 3 flights of stairs!

I do more of the chic stuff like cooking and cleaning, but let's see, I hang all my own artwork (not sure that I should be, as I am constantly 'straightening' one painting or another..). Oh and I refilled my power steering fluid last week. weeeeee! lol

That's awesome!

I shovel our long driveway, concrete patio, and sidewalks everytime it snows (which, in Wisconsin, is about every day and about 6 inches per snowfall. lol) Takes me 2 hours everytime it snows, and most of the time it's that snow/rain crap that is heavy as hell.

way to go ladies
I can't think of specifics right now but over the years I have handled many tasks out of necessity simply because he isn't always around when things have come up like needing to prime the water pump, car stuff, weekly garbage take out and even helping to push the neighbours cars out when they get stuck in the middle of the night. I simply look at it as "you do what you gotta do" and yeah Mary when in doubt read the manual

Unless you count my sons, there's not been a man around my place for 9 years.

I've replaced a garbage disposal in my kitchen, fixed the wiring on my trash compactor (cause I was determined it was too easy to call Sears for), and replaced a few light switches over the years. I need to redo a few electrical sockets but for some reason those freak me out more than light switches.

I spend 2-3 hours per week on my hands and knees scrubbing my floors, shoveling the snow (winters) and cutting the grass (summer). Not to mention cleaning out the hot tub and pool. I'm so proud afterwards, lol.

This all just goes to prove that we can do ANYTHING!

We just have to take a chance, make a choice and try something new.

For women who were probably raised with dolls and frilly dresses, these things can seem very, very daunting. A little faith and a little risk and look what we can do!

Well my wife and daughter went out shopping for a few hours yesterday so I washed and dried 3 loads of clothes, cleaned 2 bathrooms, changed the kitty litter, blew the leaves off the back deck, carport and driveway then prepared a steak fajita dinner all while watching the Falcons-Saints game.

That sucks...snow can twist your back up. You should set a goal of having a heated drive way and patio....melt that shit with a flip of a switch

I like to do yard work. Mow the lawn, trim the plants, plant a garden, etc. I also climbed under the car to figure out what was leaking from my car. I have a girlfriend that changes her own oil and can do all the repairs on her car. She is a badass when it comes to cars.

I'm 44 and never would have doubted yours or any womans ability to do whatever the heck she set her mind to do.

props on the pic hanging chica i have done that too many times to count on my own and that's tough too.

I can cook (well), clean, do laundry, sew, as well as do all the different baby duties there are, and whenever I get the chance I do. It's all about erasing the gender lines society uses to define what we're 'supposed' to know how to do.

What's wrong with baking cookies, then changing out a garbage disposal?

I have always been the proverbial man around the house ... both growing up and for the past 7 years living alone. A list of some of the things I have done:

1) All types of electronics wiring including speakers (i.e. TV, Surround sound system, satellite dish, etc) as well as putting in cable connections and setups (cable, internet, phone, etc)
2) Built and fixed computers (both hardware and software work)
3) Changed tires and oil filters
4) Assembled all types of furniture (desks, tables, chairs, book shelves) as well as moved them around myself
5) Plumbing and garbage disposal work
6) Carpentry and Caulking
7) Hanging large mirrors and picture frames
8) Installing large appliances (stoves, washers, driers, refrigerators)
9) Fixing various electronics (VCR, CD Players, etc) include sautering
10) Putting up curtain rods, curtains, valances, and mini blinds
11) All types of yard work (moving lawn, planting, weeding, etc)
12) Metal Welding

I own a complete set of tools, power drill, ladder, and believe I can fix anything. I also carry my own groceries, take out my own garbage, and make my own money and support my family. OH yes.. and I can pick out a dress and heels to die for and look like a million bucks not to mention cook and sew.

At first this all started out of necessity, but then I felt liberated. The only reason why I post in here and write all this is that it is important for us women to liberate ourselves and embrace the "I can do it myself" attitude. Not to be difficult, but to be self sufficient and self reliant. For those that have kids or are planning on having kids, the best thing to be able to pass on to them is "You can do anything you set your mind to" but you have to lead by example first.

Keep up the good work ladies.
