Are you getting ready for Xmas yet?

I have been so busy, but xmas stuff has been on my mind.

Now is the time when I regret not shopping more during the year so I don't have to make a list of gifts and rush out to buy them!

I had planned to get my holiday stuff out last weekend, but ended up working on html instead.

I wonder if I will find the time to do a tree this year... lol

Do you have your shopping and to do lists ready for the holidays?

I have the coolest miniature christmas village, its the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer one, with a little light up tree and snow monster.

If I get it up this year I'll take some pics. woohoo

we already bought the tree (an artificial one, since we've decided not to buy any more natural trees) and it's connected and light-up. No decorations yet, as we'll do those this weekend.

As for shopping, yes, we've bought a lot of gifts already but still have at least 6 or 8 more to buy.

Can't be bothered with Christmas this year.

I hate the shopping, the expense, the busy roads, etc.

Bah!!

Yeah we have a small fake tree someone gave us. But I grew up with real trees and sort of miss it.

However my husband doesn't like the real tree thing either, prefers to save a tree.

I don't mind because a real tree indoors seems to confuse my dogs and makes them want to pee under it.

I really want one of those giant fake white trees with the fiber optic lights on the tips. Or possibly a fake pink tree, if I can ever pull that over on him.

I put up a couple of decorations but that's it so far.
We did decide to do the tree a bit early this year though for our little boy.

but one day, I'll have a pink tree.

Decorating it will be fab.

I've been doing some shopping but that's not a big deal for me, since that's my favorite part. I generally buy stuff through-out the entire year and then stick it in a closet somewhere (and forget about some of it and find it 3 or 4 months after Christmas is over).

I spent an entire week organizing all my Christmas decorations last year when I took everything down. I bought new containers and labeled everything. I also put it all together in one place. It was a BITCH and I wanted to kill myself about half way through, but it should make things a lot easier this year.

Everybody will be at my house for Thanksgiving, so I'm trying to live through that nightmare right now. I can't put any Christmas stuff out. All the chicks in my family get up like tards at 3:00 on black Friday and shop. Sometimes we even go out of town and get a room and shop for two days. I usually put my trees and decorations up on Saturday or Sunday, depending on how exhausted I am from the shopping crap.

Yeah I was supposed to do my decoration organizing last year, and the boxes are still stacked in a mess in the garage on a table when I took everything down. But I have to face it all again this year. This has been going on since we moved, in 2006. Its about the last thing in the house that hasn't been organized and the time is coming! Next year will be perfect.

Good luck on Thanksgiving Holly, I did that a couple times and its always exciting spending that much time with the loved ones.

We're going to Mississippi to a relatives house for TG. They have a huge estate and brand new house, they get to do all the work and I'll be outside with my cousins in the dark under the oak trees, toking up. haha

I have FIVE damn trees. I don't have a pink one, but I do have a white one that I decorate only in pink. Pink lights, pink bows, pink ornaments. I also have a pink feather boa wreath that hangs on the bedroom door that the tree is in.

I have a 12 foot that goes in the front entry, a 9 foot that's in the den, and then a tree in three of the bedrooms. My friend's mom sends me this real tree from the florist every year that's about 3 or 4 feet. I usually stick it in the guest bath.

Every year I swear I'm not pulling all that shit out, then I get started and get all fired up and put it all up. And then I come home on Christmas Day night from my grandparents' party and look around at everything and think, "why in the fuck did I do all this????"

oh yeah, we're also supposed to host a dessert party - my bright idea opening my mouth about that a couple years ago - but we've been let off the hook due to home remodeling and being super busy.

The "dessert party" is a tradition in my family, about a week before xmas. Usually people who can't make it on the 25th show up, and everyone brings a dessert. The women make such a to do with their fancy desserts, and the men usually just gaze at all the sweets and everyone gets sick to their stomach by the end of the party. Its great.

maybe next year, but we'll probably still be "remodeling!" haha

How long does it take you to get all five trees decorated? I remember one year I got this huge tree, decorated like half of it, then got drunk for days and never finished it. I think I wanted to set it on fire.

Notice the ladies have started their shopping, but the men aren't really into it?

Holidays are for girls, huh.

I've always done Thanksgiving and my mom does Christmas because everyone else acts like they can't or don't have enough room. My aunt and her new husband bought a brand new house this summer on the water about 3 miles from me. Plenty of room. We spent the entire summer helping her decorate it and listening to her run her mouth about how she'd have Thanksgiving this year, Christmas next year, and then us three would rotate.

She called me last week and said she can't do it because she and the husband aren't getting along and she doesn't even know if they'll still be together by Thanksgiving. I don't know what the hell that matters since she'll still be living in the damn house. She's probably lying to get out of it.

I have a cousin who every year said she wanted to have Christmas at her house. Then, like two days before, she'd get "sick" and cancel on us. So my Grandmother would pull it together at her house as usual. But this cousin would make a huge to do about it all year long. She just wanted the attention of it all.

So yes, they LIE! they lie and then want to come over to your place and take home a plate too.

I usually get everything up in two days- Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving. Several of my girl cousins and girlfriends are still in town then, so I force them to help me. We do the same thing- get the blender out, get liquored up, and start decorating. Sometimes it doesn't turn out exactly right and I have to re-do it the next day.

The two big trees are pre-lit, so they're not too bad. Pre-lit trees are money well spent, since getting the lights out and putting them on was the part I hated most.

The other three are small trees- 3 or 4 feet. They sit on the dressers or on a piece of furniture, so they don't take that long either.

You can fix your Christmas tree or do your holiday shopping while I do your htmls or your submissions, or your pic thumbnailing, typing descriptions for your newest videos, posting on forums for your website etc. thanks!
