I have a cousin who every year said she wanted to have Christmas at her house. Then, like two days before, she'd get "sick" and cancel on us. So my Grandmother would pull it together at her house as usual. But this cousin would make a huge to do about it all year long. She just wanted the attention of it all.
So yes, they LIE! they lie and then want to come over to your place and take home a plate too.
