There is no evidence that murderers in particular give much thought to the death penalty. Frequently the places with the death penalty have a higher murder rate than those with life imprisonment.

I see little has been said in response to the argument that we now have evidence that our legal system doesn't do a very good job of convicting the right guy. The governor of Illinois suspended any further executions when presented with the FACT that Illinois juries had gotten in wrong in a bit more than 50% of the cases that could be resolved due to new DNA testing capabilities. Of course, if you carry that percentage over to the poor slobs convicted in the same system, but whose cases were not resolvable by DNA, it seems that the system is still going to put innocent people to death in Illinois.

Are Illinois juries particularly stupid, or are juries about equally stupid everywhere? Or (more likely) do they reach the death decision on less than conclusive evidence?

Yes our Jails should be hard but they should also be safe. I support the death penalty 100%.

Those who don't like the death penalty have NEVER had this crimes done to them or people they love.

If I had a wife & 2 daughters and some FUCK broke into my house, kidnapped my Wife & kids and raped them and tortured them for weeks before finally killing them and then they found this fuck and he was 100% guilty of the crime then I want that sound of a fucking bitch killed.

If he ever got out of prison I would take him out witha sniper rifle, or I'd fucking kidnape him and torture him to death as payback.

All you people who cry "ohh no you can't kill him its wrong, HAVEN'T been raped, haven't had someone close to you attacked, raped, killed, and if that did happen to you mark my words you would change your tune.

Nobody seems to see it from the victims point of view, they seem to forget about the poor innocent people who got fucked over by these assholes that they are sticking up for.

I'm all for it... some people should not be alive using tax dollars to live after they took that privledge from others.
We discussed the death penalty in Psych class... and we were studying classical conditioning...pavlov's dog...
and the point was made that...there is too much time between the crime and the punishment. Reinforcement just doesn't work...

but then there is all that comes with reinforcing the punishment to quickly...so ahh...oh well

I learned the same thing in psych class. I too think rehabilitation is wishful thinking. How do you rehabilitate a killer? A rapist?
