SEO keyword tools, are they legit?

Been using seobook for a while now. But it's becoming obvious that many of the listings are false. I mean, type in 'youtube'. Are 250,000 people seriously typing that into search engines daily? Why?

Edit: the title "SEO keyword" doesn't really make sense, should've put SE tools.

I knew someone who typed comcast.net in the Google search bar every time they got online... they simply don't know any better nor do they care...

And for those that don't know... it brings you right to the Comcast homepage...

I have several friends I've seen type youtube.com into their default homepage search engine to get to it and other sites regularly.

This Is The Funniest Fucking Thread Evar.

Same here, but I've noticed a lot of keywords that supposedly get a lot of searches (like into the 30k+ daily), but the #1 listing is a site getting less than 5k daily..

I'm not talking searches like 'youtube' here I mean people searching for 'bikini babes' or something.

depending on the term thats not so strange at all

#1 listing getting 1/6th the traffic for the keyword

guess it all depends on what tool is giving you the estimated results.

the tool could be combining searches across search engines.

i.e. the term "bikini babes" might get 30k daily

20k from google
5k from yahoo
5k from other se's

so a #1 listing on google getting 1/4 the hits isn't so bad

Statistically it's a terrible ratio, an average for the #1 result is around 40%, but you are right in many cases, all depends on competition, catchy titles and if the site is exactly on topic.

Here is a fucked up way to maybe getting your site listed. People type in meggan mallone in Yahoo, the first link is one of our affiliates with links to our site www.littlemutt.com - The first site to shoot her when she came to LA from Texas before she signed with Vivid along with a link to the first gallery that I made for her. If you go to Google, not so much, in fact that link doesn't even show up. Check out the source code for both pages, adjust accordingly.

You aren't kidding. Just watching my inlaws (both 70) use the 'net teaches me so much about how I should aim things at people like them. They actually call the internet 'google'. When their internet connection went down they called my husband and said 'google is down' and they meant the internet rather than the page.

Then there is my own mother who has a flipping PHD and still calls and asks me if emails saying she won a lottery might be true.
