Just remember what a lot of people who get tattoos seem to forget: Someday you'll be 40, 50, 60. How will that tattoo look and how well will what it depicts suit you then?

Most tattoo sites are grouped by theme or artist.

Do you want old school or new school? black or color? tribal? hard luck? religious or cultural themes?

Every tattoo artist specializes in their own area.

I had a good sized tattoo on my right calf...I must say, it was the most painfull experience I have ever had!

Now, I have had 2 motorcycle wrecks, lived through 1 totaled car...Many a stiches...I must say, this hurt the worst!

My best reasoning for that is, you don't get super pain meds afterwards...Although, if I had the chance I would definatly do it again!

One other warning about tattoo's, be carefull before you get one, because they are addiciting and you will always want another =)

My 18 year old talked for 2 years about a tattoo. I told him when he first mentioned it at the age of 16 that he had to wait. I figured the thought would fade. For 6 months or more prior to his 18th birthday we searched for designs... essentially other people's tattoos. He knew he wanted a wolf, but not an angry wolf.. more a wise wolf and he knew he wanted it on his upper arm. We finally found a 'paw print" tattoo that he liked the idea of. From there we found looked through books with images of wolves to find the right face to be looking through the pawprint. It's turned out to be the kewlest thing. It's primarily black and shading with a bit of blue in the eyes and white in the teeth. Of course he'll have to have it touched up over the years. A 20 year old tattoo looks....well... like a 20 year old tattoo.

I'm glad I made him wait.. and I'm glad he took time to search for something that was just his...not someone else's tattoo.

Course.. Mom got her 3rd (and largest) at the same time.

Be carefull in choosing your tatooist too, this is the most important thing in my mind.

Theres plenty of people out there making a mess of peoples skin with poor quality work, causing infections and passing diseases, to risk anything but a top quality job and usually you get what you pay for.

Look around your area, If you like the quality of someone eles's tattoo ask where they got it, they will usually tell you where they got their bad ones too

Once you get a tattoo you will be so much more cool. Everyone will want to be your friend. A tattoo will fulfill everything in your life that is lacking.

I wish my father would do the same with me, but he looks down on tattoos... It was good you made your son wait until he is 18 and he found something he really wants.

I dont think i would want a wolf, skull or anything like that. I more prefer just a so called tribal flash design... I also want it on my upper back so its not always visible

yeah Labret but he should do what PersianKitty said atleast, research what you want, be somewhat creative. From what Derek is saying, he is doing it cuz some bitches he knows have them too.

I went through the phase of wanting to get a tattoo, but I figured i'd wait til I had a kid or something significant thats WORTH getting a tattoo of happens. IMHO, those tribal tattoo's arent creative unless you come up with your own design or idea.

I agree with you. I am not getting this because of my ex that i talked about in an above post...

I am doing this because its something i want.

Also, i have a friend here who designs sweet tattoo, something like i want... I am going to ask her to design me something. Shes going to school for it also, so shes good...

Shes also a lesbian which is nice!

This is the beauty of a tattoo.

Really, I had no idea the effect that getting sleaved would have. I liked tattoos from a very early age, most likely due to being white trash. I waited a looong time and chose an artist who was featured in a magazine. At 150 bucks an hour, my 30 hours of work didnt come cheap, pain wise and money wise. But I digress.

I got it done, I loved it, and you quickly begin to realize other positive effects.

Take Mr Brown Bear for example. He obvously has a dislike of tattoos, most likely due to some bias, who knows where it stems from. One can only speculate. Anyhow... being sleaved automatically weeds out the people I would not normally want to talk to anyhow. The halfwhits give you dirty looks, they assume your are some poor and uneducated white trash, and they avoid you. It is perfect. And its fun when you go to the bank and they assume you are a drug dealer.

And people severely underestimate you. Thats my favorite part.

I think it sucks and I also think that people who get tribal art tattoos that don't have any meaning to them are lame.

I think the reason you want a tattoo is so when you show it to other people they will actually look at you and think you're somewhat interesting, as opposed to the natural you.

For most people, getting a tattoo is a way to make them feel better about themselves because they're naturally insecure.

Have fun!

Labret, you should note that I said "most people" in my post above. I think even you would agree that a lot of people get a tattoo just because its the "cool" thing to do and they believe it will bring praise from their peers. Thus making them a better person.

Other people like yourself might have more meaningful reasons for getting one, and I can respect that.

Labret, you should note that I said "most people" in my post above. I think even you would agree that a lot of people get a tattoo just because its the "cool" thing to do and they believe it will bring parise from their peers. Thus making them a better person.

Other people like yourself might have more meaningful reasons for getting one, and I can respect that.
Fuck yeah, nothing makes me sicker than a Taz tattoo.

I think the reason you want a tattoo is so when you show it to other people they will actually look at you and think you're somewhat interesting, as opposed to the natural you.

For most people, getting a tattoo is a way to make them feel better about themselves because they're naturally insecure.

Have fun!

Frist off, i am not getting this to show off to everyone... Its one thing i want when i am lying in bed naked with my girl (when i get a new one ) and its something i would like to look at when i am changing.

I am doing this for me, and its not something that will be showed off... Most people i talk to will not even know i have it... Just my close friends and what not....

Whats wrong with tribal art? does a wolf, skull, bear, anything of that nature have any meaning? mosty cases now...

I dont want some big ass art work on my arm or leg... i want something that i can hide and i like

I plan on getting a very good job some day and i dont want everyone knowing i have tattoos, i am just in the biz now to pay for college, my car, books and have some nice spending cash. I do not plan on doing this full time and some day i would like to have a good job...

what do you think?

I suggest NOT going tribal. It is UBER Trendy, and kinda gay. I'd recommend some nice bio-mech stuff. Maybe skeletal bat or dragon wings. Tribal is kinda cliche'. Just my

if you're doing it for yourself then who fucking cares about your career or whatever. people will have to accept it. i am in the jewelry business, i sell $3500+ diamonds all the time. if i had a reason to get a tattoo, you better believe id get one. regardless of what people think.

get a tattoo that says "I LOVE COCK" right on your back, then have fun hiding it from your coworkers, because once again IMHO, a tattoo should have some meaning not some trendy tribal shit you seen in a jpeg on the internet.

I Have the Red and Yellow M&M characters on my upper left arm, and they have meaning for me as they relate to my wife and daughter. On top of that, they are a pretty original tatoo as I have yet to see anything else like it.

I took the images off of the M&M website, and modified them in PS to where they look like they are chatting with each other.

I have a shitty Digital Camera, and it's not showing the images to hot (It's one of those el cheapo digital cam/vid cam ones for like $99)

Do what you want, but be proud of it, and make sure it is what you want.
