I will actually add something to this thread. I am not a full timre webmaster but I wanted to learn about traffic and blogging and I started a blog called http://Sisterlicious.com about seven weeks ago which I devote very minimal time to. I can see replicating this minor success with multiple blogs on different topics if I was a full time webmaster and learned a bit more about maximizing my traffic and I am sure that others could do even better than that. But I am too busy filming and editing video and running my business to do it all.

Add a free trade script to each of the blogs and sey up "clicked" toplists on the blogs so you can trade traffic with other sites via toplists. Just replace the dumb 500 hardlinks that are always plastered on 99% of the blogs out there, with actual links that will send you back real traffic.

Don't add tons of hardlink trades, because most of them do nothing but add traffic leaks for sales to fall through. Set up "real" toplists and let the backlinks build up organically or trade for them on other sites.

Also build your self a old school toplist to filter traffic into your network if you have to build more than one if you are dealing in several niches.

Search Engine traffic is not the only traffic that can make sales and while you are twitting your thumbs waiting for it, you could be building up clicked traded traffic and making sales. Depending on only SE traffic is dumb IMHO because it's something you have no control over.
