We haven't heard much from many of the big sponsors on what directions they're taking due to all this Visa shit.... I'm curious to see their decisions. Obviously there is more to be taken into consideration than a simple registration fee.

Will you be modifying your billing solutions in some way or another, changing it altogether, or sticking fast with your billing companies?

it's called having the money to abid by the new rules? Why is everybody running scared?? If you have money,if you make money, this is not a big deal...Adapt with the times,if you can't than that means this was MENT to get people like you out of the business

I don't think a company pulling in millions is going to have a problem dropping the money to keep that going

1. You're just as responsible now for everything as if you had your own merchant account even if you don't have one and are using 3rd party.

2. If your cb ratio hits the magic number, you're done. Not that site.... ALL your sites.

3. Visa will be deciding what types of sites you can and cannot have on a per url basis. You get one site nuked, you get them all nuked, and you're done.

4. If you happen to be lucky enough to be using Epoch, you will NOT EVER use another processor like Globill or they will terminate you for life.

5. Mastercard is rumored to have taken on the same policies.

6. If you stay with 3rd party processing, and are terminated, you cannot get your own merchant account.

7. If you go with getting your own merchant account and are terminated by Visa, you cannot go get 3rd party processing.

8. If you do decide to stay with 3rd party processing, you take on full responsibility as though you had a merchant account, and get the privelege of continuing to pay the 15% transaction fees to the processor.

9. You will bend over and accept the full girth in a painful and dry fashion without complaint or be banished to Antartica.

hm yeah bringing down the hammer pretty hard... but all and all if you're legit you shouldn't have a problem with following the guidelines...it is kind of fucked up though that if you slip up ONCE that's it ... Checking each and every url is a good idea too... The answer to all your thoughs are very easy. MOst big players are currently in Curacao with Rand from Epoch and the rest of the team, also Ibill are there. So they will have everything figured out when they come back around wednesday. Untill than, not much to be announced.

Also AMP, there is no confirmation yet about Visa changing the maximum tolerated chargeback ratio. The 2.5% is still accepted under normal circumstances.

Alot of the points you mentioned are not yet confirmed, actually many things are not worked out yet but will be in the next few days.

I spoke with the chargeback dept. at my merchant bank today to discuss some of my concerns the new policies will have and where they thought it was leading. One thing that I thought was 'nice' about having your own merchant account was in the event that you exceed the chargeback rate they will work with you, not against you to get everything back in line.

Also, disputing chargebacks is a pain in the ass but the more and more I think about it, it is actually beneficial to me and my business. I control my own destiny, I keep good records, and Im in charge of the dispute. Ive read most of the posts on the issue and the tone of most of them seem to indicate that a 3rd party processor would hang you out to dry if you exceeded x ammount of chargebacks.

It is pretty obvious that this is just a sign of more changes to come and the women I spoke to today agreed and mentioned that slowly over time regulations would be getting tighter. This would simply indicate that people need to run their businesses a bit mor ethically. It would seem that the point in which visa backs off is the point when they can perceive the industry being run in an ethical matter.

So, anyways I would suggest getting your own merchant account because at least you have more control over what happens. I would rather lose my account knowing that I lost it then have some 3rd party lose it for me.

There are many reasons why we launched the $1 trial for a month.
It keeps our chargebacks down and surfers don't feel pressured to cancel.
they feel comfortable joining that is why the conversions kick ass and the chargebacks are low. they have a month to cancel.
That is why I said give them a good deal and they will pay.
just like all the fast vfood chains have $1 menu and 2 for a buck burgers etc.
get them in the door then you up sell them.

Just try us out and you will see how well we convert. The visa regs are just a way to keep an Eye on us. Its a shake down
most likely the sponsors who were around in the beginning will ride it to the end.

I agree with getting your own merchant account.

Problemo over here is that in Oz you can't get your own when you do porn, hard enough when you don't do porn. To get one states side means (correct me if I am wrong) setting up a company and having an employee. Then there is tax, etc. A lot of fun.

And if you do get one here in Oz, you can only bill in Aussie dollars and can only display Aussie dollars. Americans hate that, tends to scare em off.

11. Under the new Visa US rules, your members will be billed by the biller/your company code. ie ccbill.com*bighardons - THAT will do wonders for rebills. Some have said it's the URL, some say your company name. Still no clarification.
