how much weirder can my sleep habits get?

I've went completely nocturnal over the last couple of weeks, and have been going to bed at somewhere between 7am and 10am lately, and DRAGGING myself up out of bed around 5-7pm.

Now, I've fucked myself further. Instead of even sleeping through a solid 8-9 hours, I take 3 or so 2-4 hour naps a day at random intervals.

Additionally, I had a nightmare about php of all things.

Any recommendations on how to break out of this cycle?

Gotta tough it out.

Stay up a full 24 hours until you hit the time of the clock where you want to be your usual schedule.

I know of no other way and have encountered this myself a few times.

It is a bitch, but only lasts one day. Then you have to hit the sack at the same time from then on.

If you cannot do this, you may need a sleep aid. Do not try with booze or drugs, can really fuck you up or even kill you.

I find weekends best to try this, as you usually have fewer concerns about work and such.

I'm in the same situation, however just as Johnny mentioned... I have gone 24h+ without sleep and then when it gets to 11pm I allow myself to sleep, If you take random naps throughout the day before it gets dark.... its hard to go back to your normal schedule.....

I do the same, nocturnal just feels more natural. I never get any work done during daylight hours anyways.

Seriously harmful if you continue in that rut - it blows the immune system over time and ya just get ill from "something". It's MUCH nicer to be awake and alert to do work at 7am.

Agree with JohnnyJames - stick it out till you are tired and time that for a normal bedtime and get back to sanity and a regular rota.

BTW - There is real life out there someplace - it's worth experiencing on occasions

welcome to the webmaster sleep pattern. i've been stuck in it for a while. mine follows no particular pattern. but i find myself staying up late, sleeping a few hours, getting up, doing a bit of work, passing out for a couple hours in the afternoon, waking up, etc etc...

this is what i like to think of as FREEDOM. like animals i believe people should sleep whenever the hell they feel like it. just stop and take a nap.

don't change shit, you're on step above the average man on the way to godliness.

nope, doesn't work that way.... whenever I get 8 hours of sleep, I need to stay awake for 24 hours or so, like I'm on a 32 hr day cycle....... too much to do and think about to fall asleep after only being up for 16 hours, plus the real work starts to get done from 2am to 7am

i have been there bro, what i did is keep myself tired like jogging in the morning & letting my body sweat to the max. getting some sunshine helps too. then i shower with a luke warm water before going to sleep and drink a glass of hot milk.

i take melatonin too & eventually it works until my body clock gets back to its normal routine.

That's definately the way to do it. I've suffered from intermittent insomnia for 14 years now, and that what I always have to end up doing. I can't take most sleep aids, because they make my blood pressure drop dangerously low, and/or I build up a tolerance that could lead to dependance very quickly.

Stay up for 24+ hours, and don't go to sleep until your target day 1+ days later. Don't be surprised if it doesn't work the first time, but keep trying.

If all else fails, go to the doctor, and get rx help.

actually Polyphasic Sleep isn't bad for you. If you can operate at with that amount of sleep there's no problem imo

welcome to my sleep pattern. i goto sleep around 6-7am, sleep until 2-3pm, stay up til about 8-9pm, wake up around midnight. and so on...

i'm working on getting myself down to 4 hours of sleep a day. i believe polyphasic sleep is a true possibility with alot of training, haha....

you working? sounds like a heavy work cycle to me. when the work cools off you'll slip back to a more regular cycle and if you don't... so what? as long as you feel good and can work all is well. -bmb
