My new mac seems to be a POS

Already have an USB port that stopped working and my headphone jack is working maybe 50% of the time.

I'm not talking about the software yet but i'm sure I'll find something... I just had a term freeze on me not even able to use ctrl+c

Hmm weird. I just got one and it works beautifully. I'm wondering what took me so long. I'd take it back, probably one of those Friday assemblies.

macbook as I figured i didn't need anything bigger or with more power than it. I didn't reboot yet, but still a port stopping working is not really normal and I don't feel like troubleshooting.

I'll just bring it back if it stays that way and pick up another laptop.

Sorry to hear that
Try restarting it. This tends to clear up most problems.

Theres no Control+C on the Mac, its Command+C, on either end of the spacebar

Try Apple+Lettuce+X and move your mouse on the screen like you we're drawing a big pair of titties and it should work.

As for the headphone jack problem
Try hitting the volume up a notch right after you plug your headphones in ..

I had this problem and it seems to be some sorta setting or something, I'm not too sure.

Unfortunate you are having problems, but if you just got it, bring it back for another ..

A USB port will also quit if the power draw is too large, your computer will disable it but you usually get a warning that tells you what's going on .. any chance there was a problem with a peripheral you plugged into it ?

The only time I even had that problem was when I was trying to wire LED lights into something that was plugged in while the computer was running * bad idea I know...

Ctrl+C works in a term.

I have 8 Macs plus a pro notebook and they are not without issues.. I have a G5 2.5 gig Dual that has to be kept switched on 24/7 otherwise its a real bitch to restart. Something about the Video card and mother board being faulty.

One thing they did with the most recent model "twin quad core" was to make the connections to the hard drives different , now my older computers drives are not swapable.

Also be aware that the new Segate 750 gig free agent pro, drives do not work with the very latest Mac OS. I have ten that i got a deal on sitting in my office waiting for Seagate to patch their software its been months now ???

When I bought a MAC

I mean, in the last 20 years, they had 3-5 successful applications compared to millions

and I think oh a time span of about 1-2 months where it looked cool

Yeah that's what i was thinking.... like a moron!

Mac service is great. I'm sure they would take it back and give you a new one if you just got it and it doesn't work. Great company. Unlike Microsoft.

USB port seems to work fine after reboot. I'll just make sure to get the extended warranty until something fishy like this happens again.

When you do the software updates always download the combo updaters rather than using the built in update.

I have a couple of Mac's and no issues at all.

You miss my point. Microsoft is irrelevant to what he was saying since they don't make computers. All the pretentious mactards take every opportunity to rip on Microsoft. I get tired of it. It's not Microsoft's fault that some people are too stupid to operate a computer running Windows. Fortunately for the mactards there is a company that makes a dumbed down computer with an equally dumbed down OS.

I worked for 2 years as a systems analyst in an environment completely dominated by Linux and Windows 2000 Server/XP boxes.

My Macbook Pro was a welcome change. Dumbed down? I guess you can call having Apache preinstalled and config'd dumbed down......but how about the Unix core? I can do things in terminal that you could only imagine doing on a PC.

It's funny that you slam one stereotype but perpetuate another all in one paragraph.

Stick to Vista. It's the best!

Vista is garbage. I am not defending Microsoft. What I am doing is pointing out the holier-than-thou attitude of the typical mac user. Frankly I am a Linux geek. I have been since before I got my MCSE and worked as a network admin for Sprint.

Haven't you ever noticed that when a mac user is talking about his love affair with his computer, he/she always has to bring Microsoft into the equation? Frankly it irritates the shit out of me.

Ubuntu is fantastic. Unlike asparagus and Republicans.
