As for the headphone jack problem
Try hitting the volume up a notch right after you plug your headphones in ..

I had this problem and it seems to be some sorta setting or something, I'm not too sure.

Unfortunate you are having problems, but if you just got it, bring it back for another ..

A USB port will also quit if the power draw is too large, your computer will disable it but you usually get a warning that tells you what's going on .. any chance there was a problem with a peripheral you plugged into it ?

The only time I even had that problem was when I was trying to wire LED lights into something that was plugged in while the computer was running * bad idea I know...
