Do you tip when you pick up take out?
Figured I might as well start my very own tip thread. Some of the waitresses/cashiers expect a tip when I pick up my food. I only tip when I dine in...fuck that!

				 | What if its curbside pickup? Like where you phone your order into Ruby Tuesdays or someplace and they bring you your food in seperate containers and shit to your car. Do you not feel maybe they should get a buck or two? Then again I recently stopped tipping the pizza people, fuckers added a 3.00 delivery fee to the bill.

I would tip if it's curbside service, but if I gotta get my ass out the car and go stand in line and wait...hell no! I also put 0(zero) on the tip line and make sure I close out the total on the receipt.

				 | It depends on where it's at. I had a friend that worked at Chili's and pointed out to me that when they work the to go section they still do most of the work they would do in the restaurant such as plating the food, condiments, utensils, drinks and make less then min wage but most customers do not tip them. I never did until after that. Once place I refuse to tip is coffee stands, especially small ones ran by the owner. I really hate tipping all together.

				 | I was at the pool at the Marco Polo kiki bar, N. Miami. I self-picked a 12 once bottle of water from a frig dispencer. Saw it was $3.00 (OK no prob) I went up to the counter and put down 3 bucks and started to walk away...wait, that's $3.75 the woman said..but it says $3.00 on the cooler I said. Well we add 8.25% tax and 18% tip. It's not the 75 cents it's the principle somethimes. |

				 | Do you tip the people at McDonald's or Burger King for getting your drink, wrapping your burger and 'plating' your french fries? Me neither. I'll tip a dollar or two if I ordered a salad and/or dessert as they have to special make those. But if it's pretty standard, baked potato and sandwich, I don't see the point. Part of the reason you tip a waiter/ess is because they take your order, refill your drinks, visit your table a few times and essentially spend time making your 'experience' comfortable. In any case, you tip AFTER the meal so as to give feedback on their performance. Tipping the Pizza guy is different because I don't want him sitting on my couch for a half-an-hour while I eat, nagging me to change the channel to WWE wrestling. I tip him on the basis that pizza is pizza and the quality is generally known before you eat it. Many times I've ordered curbside and the fries were soggy, the steak was undercooked and salad leafs were not crunchy. I can't just as well drive back and demand my hard-earned 80-cents back. So like I said, view it like you would the cashier at McDonalds or Burger King unless you know they had to do something really special. |

				 | Usually only if they run the food out to the car. I'll tip on pick up at the counter only if I'm hooked up in some way. |

				 | What's this running food out to the car thing? I have never ordered at a restaurant that does that. Sounds pretty cool, though.

				 | When I took to go orders I never expected a tip. However, I always remembered the people who did tip and always hooked them up with extra stuff when they'd come back.
