Cell phone numbers going public tomorrow

Cell phone numbers going public tomorrow

REMINDER....all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies tomorrow and you will start to receive sale calls.

.....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:

888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time
It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

or you can do this via the internet, at this link...

https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

You can also register your home phone as well...up to 3 phone numbers...

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.

It take about 20 seconds.

Thanks for the reminder.

Also, the government implemented the "Do Not Call" list about five years ago, and you have to renew every five years - so if you are suddenly starting to get telemarketing calls again, time to opt-out again...

heh, just to give you my insite, as a ex-telemarketer... the national do not call registry doesn't mean telemarketers can't call you, it means if they call you, and you say "i am on the national do not call list, please remove me from your list" they must say "thanks for your time, bye" and put you in as a do not call, which stays active for 6 months before going into circulation again...

you don't even need to put your name on the list, when a telemarkter calls, just interupt them nicely and say what i just said, they will thank you for your time and remove you... but if you act like a jackass, chances are most telemarketers (alot don't care about you) will just put you in as a call back for 15 minutes, causing someone ELSE to call you...

just a FYI from a ex-telemarketer.

I have a bank of answering machines in my call center which record call backs from people who have been called and decide to *69 and see who keeps miss calling them..

As you may or may not know, call centers use dialers to automatically detect if a real person picks up, and forwards the call to the next available operator who is ready to pitch you on that crazy mortgage refi deal you have been waiting for. When an answering machine picks up, the dialer hangs up promptly dials the next number looking for a live person.

Many people, mostly lonesome losers in their basement or Mom's basement , will *69 to see who called and then call back and leave a message something like these:

1. Take me off your fucking list.
2. Check out my new rap song (rap plays for length of message)
3. I got the stuff, meet you at 7-11 in an hour.
4. Hi baby, I miss you, call me.
5. Who is calling me, I would appreciate if you would call me back and not hang up.
6. I'm calling the police.
7. I am calling the BBB (ha ha)
8. I am calling my lawyer (haha, sure you have a lawyer )
9. This is hot, why don't you stop calling and we can meet up.
10. Have you found Jesus, I can help you, call me we can talk about it.

Note: Only message #1 will actually get your number taken off the list! It also helps to leave your phone number in the message.

yeah my old call center had the number that showed up on their id, forward to our call center, plus all callers used the same number on call back, so if someone called back, it would light up on the managers desk letting them know its someone we called, so they could answer it with a message along the lines of (example, we sold the Boston Globe to the new england area), "Hello, Boston Globe customer service", so they could either say hey, take us off your list, or know who called them in the first place

Or.. when a telemarketer calls you can report them to the do not call register. I have done that in the past and had the Dish company stop calling me.

I'll tell you what; I will much rather be on the do not call list than not and do the spiel you recommend. When I signed up for the registry, my calls dropped from 10 per week to once maybe every 2 months. Easy choice for me..

true, but most telemarketers are pretty nice if you're nice to them, i know if an old lady got on the phone with me, i wouldn't badger her and push her to try and buy my product, i actually said thanks for your time, when she said no thank you, i've actually had alot of people stop me before i hung up and said thanks for being so nice, and it was a breath of fresh air to actually talk to a telemarketer that wasn't a jackass and kept pushing them, he'll i even got a few sales because of that...

In Australia cell/mobile phones are time charged to the CALLER, so the only telemarketing calls we get are from the carriers themselves.

Did you get an email claiming that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls because of a new cell phone number database? Those claims are not true. In fact, federal law prohibits telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phones. You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, but there is generally no reason to do so. For more information, see the FTC's press release "The Truth about Cell Phones and the Do Not Call Registry".

you don't even need to put your name on the list, when a telemarkter calls, just interupt them nicely and say what i just said, they will thank you for your time and remove you... but if you act like a jackass, chances are most telemarketers (alot don't care about you) will just put you in as a call back for 15 minutes, causing someone ELSE to call you...

just a FYI from a ex-telemarketer.
Not true at all. After you are placed on the list, you have 31 days to expect calls to continue, if any calls come after the 31 days is over, you can report that company to donotcall.gov

You do not have to tell the company to stop calling you, if they call you, you can report them without any contact to them, you just need to know the # and the name of the company who is calling you.

Telemarketers

Whenever a telemarketer gets a hold of me I say "I'm really glad you called, I wanted to talk to you about Amway."

Telemarketers should be hung by their balls and repeatedly stabbed with needles until they slowly bleed to death a week later.

Of course that's just my opinion.
