Okay, I am trying to be open minded about the guy . . . but . . .

He is on the Daily Show, the topic is his inexperience, or lack thereof.

Part of his reply, along the lines of, "no one has longer resumes' than Rumsfeld and Cheney, and that did not work out too well."

Fine. The only problem is, they were not President. They were, for all intents and purposes, advisers.

Is he saying that if he wins he will surround himself with advisers with short resumes' and little experience (like him and Bush)? Or will he also surround himself with old school?

I would have to say old school. Obama is pretty intellegent. I don't think that (if he does win) he would make the mistake of not having a strong backing. He will probably run things like Bill did.... With Hillary's hand up his ass.

Ok, Hillary is our age. Well, a year older than me. Went to the same high school... I don't think Obama could pull out a win. Suspect Hillary could. Not saying I would find that great for the US. Didn't think much of her a whole bunch of years ago and the feeling holds.

BTW, I believe there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq removed with help by the French, Syria, Russia or ???? Makes no difference now, we're there now. Plus how long could we go without Iraq not being a sovereign nation. Were the no fly zones gonna go on for ever??? Something had to give.

The Iraq situation will be a big part of the national debate on who will be the next president. For a lot of us it will financial issues. Guess how that vote goes

For the webmaster, a hard decision if you think about it awhile. Government regulations vs tax code..... Any long talk with a tax adviser, estate planer or attorney can give you some serious things to think about.

What he's saying is that experience isn't nearly as important as judgement.

He also said tonight that usually we look for experience because we hope that with experience one develops better judgement. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case.

Also, FWIW, unless you count being first lady as part of her resume, Hillary's has less experience than Obama working in government.

Not sure how serious I can be at this early stage in the primaries, however I would have to say that, "Aw, shucks, I'm a beltway outsider", played pretty well for Reagan and Dubya.

And I do agree that much of the blame for the quaqmires in Afghanistan and Iraq, are attributable to Cheney, Rumsfeld, as well as other career neo-cons such as Richard Pearle and Elliot Abrams.

Nonetheless, I am still unsure that Obama can even win his party nomination let alone the White House. Not because of his qualifications, but because I still don't know that he has done enough to differentiate himself from the other contenders, particularly front runner Hillary Clinton.

The democratic candidate does get 90% of the black vote, but how many blacks vote? Very few, they don't have anyone to vote for, they haven't since Kennedy.

Kids ages 18-25 vote overwhelmingly democrat, but how many of them vote?
Very few, they haven't had a candidate to be excited about since Kennedy.

If the republicans nominate someone like Giuliani, most of the evangelicals will stay home. At the same time if Obama is the nominee black turnout in the south will be enormous, there will be states in play that would never otherwise be.

There are a dozen other reasons I think he will win not only the nomination but the presidency, but I don't want to turn this post into a book.

Up until recent history most of our presidents had little or no political experience (unless being on a corporate board is political experience).

You don't need any. You need BUSINESS EXPERIENCE or just plain fucking common sense and he was right, the two examples had one or the other but not both.

Actually what I think his critics are referring to is foreign policy experience.

Since 4 out of the last 5 presidents were governors first, they had absolutely zero foreign policy experience when they took office also.

Their argument doesn't make any sense, they're just grasping at straws. The fact that the entire field is attacking him shows that they're afraid of him.

Obama is proof that US politics is often style over substance. He is a nice enough guy, but someone seriously lacking in skills and experience to get the job done. He hasn't even done middle management yet (run a congressional committee) and yet he thinks he can run the country.

He is a nice enough guy, but someone seriously lacking in skills and experience to get the job done. He hasn't even done middle management yet (run a congressional committee) and yet he thinks he can run the country. The only reason? The idiots running the US now are fucking it up so bad that a constipated monkey throwing darts at a dartboard could make better decisions. Compared to Bush, the tree in my front lawn looks qualified. Obama is a good guy, and potentially great VP material. But he isn't up for the big job yet. Get in as the VP, get 8 years experience, and then run by yourself.
