BBQ Safety Question...

When I light my BBQ, flames come out under the BBQ, where the two pipes connect into the bottom of the BBQ. Is this dangerous?

yeah, turn everything off and spray some windex or soapy water around the joints & pipe where you suspect a leak

if you see bubbles, get that fixed

It's weird, because it doesn't always do it. I think the pipes on the burner might have something wrong with them.

Stop cooking with gas. You might as well cook indoors if you're going to do that.

Amen. If you are using a gas grill, you aren't BBQing. You're just cooking outside. You'll never get the same flavor from a gas grill either.

I have yet to hear of a championship that allowed cooking with gas.

$10 at Walmart. Sandwich in between two layers of coals, plug in, wait 10 minutes. Remove, wait 15-30 minutes, spread coals into a single layer.

Has worked flawlessly for me all summer long.

That electric thing looks pretty easy but I love these things.

Propane sucks for sure but coals lit with lighter fluid sucks also, that stuff stinks.

I have been using mine for 30+ years. Mine is old school compared to that one, but they are they only way to fly.

goodgirl used to have a problem lighting charcoal, and recently picked one up (on my advice) and she loves it.

I know, I know. I just don't have the patience for charcoal, but I do like it better. I'm going to get a charcoal grill next summer, but only for larger BBQs. Charcoal is overkill for just one steak or two sausages.

Anyways, the burner was just a little loose. I pushed it forward and re-lit it and there were no problems. No leaks from the hose or anything either. I'm gonna get a new burner just in case, though.

You fill the top area with charcoal, stuff newspaper in the bottom and light it.

When flames start popping out above the charcoal you pour the charcoal out and let it finish.

Takes about 10 minutes depending on how much charcoal you are using.

Screw messy charcoal.. well, when I had a char grill I used to support it 200% too lol anyways, if you know how to cook you can always make delicious food with much easier to maintain/cleaner gas grill (BBQ don't have to be limited to only grilling steaks and sausages ).. I just bought this and loving it (I grill every fucking day thru summer):

That's pretty sweet! I may get one of those when my electric thingy doesn't work anymore.

I'm afraid of gas since I saw a gas oven blow up in someone's face, so it's charcoal for me.

I use them both. Sometimes if I'm tired and just want to cook up a couple burgers or a few chicken breast's, I don't want to deal with lighting up the charcoal grill. Just turn on the propane, cook up my shit and go inside. The convenience factor with propane makes it a keeper, but for an all out BBQ, I like to use Hickory wood chips instead of charcoal, but it's the same idea.
